Shouldn't this guide get updated to reflect supply stash weapons?

(Also, note that hand crafted weapons can sometimes, if you are very lucky, be better than predictable weapons.)

Finaaally updated, sorry about the wait..
I was inactive in game for a little while, during this time my forum energies were almost soley devoted to my Archer Basics (sticky). Squall is in, and so is the Lv50 supply stash weapon.

(I don't think the lower level supply stash weapons are all that necessary inclusions, their acquisition is straight forward and a minor feature of weapon progressions.)

    Comments:

    - The very last section of the guide, where you show a cheap progression, should include General Summer's bow.

    - I think you should include a note about the "Interval Between Hits -X seconds" property, as it has a large effect on your damage-per-second output.

    Ty Storm :)

    to Elena:
-I'll add GSLB into the cheap progression ^^
-I think it would be out of place to have interval in there at the moment, but i may develop another section with valuable modifiers.

I'm a level 35 and I'm having the hardest time finding a good ranged weapon. I check the auctioneer frequently, but it seems that people mostly use that for fashion stuff. Whats the best way to acquire a good ranged weapon for the 32+ era? I saw that a 2star'd lightning bow might be a good choice, or a Bullfiber Pellet, but I have no idea how to begin getting one...plz help uber archers!

Auction House is best to find things. Hopefully you will have better luck in the future.

You can actually do the following for the levels 32-50:

    - Use a 1 star, normal weapon for levels 30 - 41.
    - Use another 1-star, normal weapon for levels 42-45 (I did this personally.).
    - Get Bow of the Goddess as a quest reward at level 46 after you kill Suzerix.
    - At 50, resume following the guide by obtaining a Perfect Hammer and opening the Supply Stash.

Technically speaking, the Bow of the Goddess can be used at level 45, but you get the quest at level 46. I was able to find one on the market for 40k at level 45, and I sold the one I got as a quest reward at the next level.

I have the option of sticking with my +5 wind and cloud - 2 flawless garnets and getting full tt80 or sticking w/ my tt70 and getting a Soulsmasher +5 - two perfect garnets when I hit 80.

Could anyone tell me how significant the difference between those two weapons is?

Edit: I understand that soulsmasher stays bound and it can't be sold, but I'm more concerned about having the best weapon possible considering that Archers are primarily DDs. I'm leaning towards soulsmasher atm because archers (for the most part) don't take many hits.

I know weapons mean a lot more to Archers than the other equipment, but wouldn't it make sense to list progression for other items as well and put them in the stickied guide you have?

Lady Annor's response (post 22 on this thread) to whether or not she will be making an armor progression guide.
Naw, if someone wants to write one they are welcome to though :D

Thats not even something i've considered due to the complexity such a guide would have to involve. If you look at my archer guide though, it does have recommendations for choosing armor pieces though.

Swiftwind Crossbow (level 60) and Solarslayer (level 61) are the most poerful weapons in the 60s. Why wouldn't they be good for grind.
It is the only real option you have anyway until you hit level 69 and go for Wind and Clouds sling which is the glamour or grind until level 80s.

For how long time I can use Krimson? (I am lvl71 atm, but I plan for future).
It cant be resold, so only few lvls isnt generaly worth. I might as well to go with my W&C (+3, two buetiful) as far as I can. Or I could get something that can be upgraded.

BTW W&C price should go up. Its no more for 3 chips. Now its 3x soemthing.

Both Crimson and W&C can be used for more than 10 levels, but that is all depending on your refinement level. If you think 3+ is enough for a bow that is itself expensive, then you will be better off. I mean, if you are not ready to invest in that bow (which yes, is not sellable after all the money spent) to around +6 is better to go on the simple TT crossbow path. Refined , Crimson will hold you no problem until first part of your 90s.
Same goes for W&C which can hold long after you start your 80s; just that it needs a bit more refinement.

Sinister Shooter +2 has slightly more DPS and is currently a lot cheaper than the GSLB.

I had both, I picked the Sinister Shooter.

    So... uhmm lvl 60-69
A friend is gonna sell me his Swiftwind +4 for 1mil ... and his GenieShins for 600k

Should I give the Swiftwind priority? or should I wait till W&C and get the Shins first?

Or give my PWI wallet anorexia and buy both at the same time?

I don't think you need the Genie Shins. You can just get the shinguards from the Token of Seven quest. You're going to want to get Dark Shinguards of Hedes at 69 anyways.

As for the Swiftwind, having a refined one is useless as you only use it for 9 levels and you'll want to decompose it for material on TT70 later. Personally, I had a non-refined Swiftwind with an Average Garnet in it and I did fine.

I say you get the quest shinguards, a non-refined Swiftwind and save up for W&C and Dark Shinguards of Hedes, both of which will be useful up the 80s.

Unless there is something completely different about PvP, an archer's weapon is the most important piece of equipment for an archer.

but... ehem... does it hurt to pay 1 mil for the swiftwind? I mean im not in such a high lvl faction and I dont know when will my friends help me farm TT.

I dont see any Swiftwind for less than 1mil in AH though. (Once saw one for 500k buy it now. I was such a fool for not buying it god damn)

Well I don't know about Harshlands since it's a newer server than Lost City but I know that on Lost City you can get one for 200-300k depending on how many sockets you get.

Hmmmmm lets see......... Xbow all the way. I did use The Penetrator for the mods of the 1% crit... thats it if at all possible use Xbows they are good for both PVE & PVP hit harder and shoot faster. List of Xbows as for what I used..... Forgive me if I left out any, been so long cant remember.

    FB19 reward Xbow
.... some other Xbow I got from drop had good mods
    The Penetrator
Solar Slayer.... this held me till TT70 Thundercrack...... Chained Jail
When I hit 90 I will use TT90 Blinding Radiance

I cant remember but I think The Penetrator had a -to hit intervals
    please correct if Im wrong.

the Penetrator reffed to +4....... Did this because of how long I used it
Solarslayer reffed to +4.... same here I used it for so long
TT70 Thundercrack reffed to +4....... Better resale value if reffed and hit harder
TT80 Chained Jail reffed to +5...... and again resale and harder hit and use for so long
TT90 Blinding Radiance currently reffed to +5....... Will use this till 100 and currently debating on Bow or Xbow TT99 Gold. Will most likely go with Xbow for harder hits and crit mod and I think it has Vit mod too. Most archers go with Lunar Bow but there u hit slower and lower than with TT99 Gold Xbow. Also u would have to use -to interval gears. MMMMM Gears theres something else to get into but Ill leave that for another day.

Please correct me and add any other comments or flame me if wish.b:victory
