Hi guys,
Location: Swamp of the Wraiths
Enemy: Acephalic Rider (68)
Acephalic stand on the earth/ground while attacking: FULL DAMAGE (around 1400)
Acephalic stand in the water (swamp) while attacking: 1/2 DAMAGE (around 700-800)
Same sit with my BARB and with a CLERIC. Is this a bug or what? Is there any hidden andvantage for Acephalic's while standing in water? Bug?
Thanks for info !

Normal = should be like this or normal = because it's a known bug?0
-
normal because its an old issue and wont be fixed even if it is considered a bug.
PS. Its not whether the mob is on water or not, its whether or not you yourself are in water.I was early taught to work as well as play,
My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday.0 -
this is how the game was designed, not a bug
still early in the morning, forgive my vagueness b:chuckle
EDIT: ninja'd[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Normal because it's the same as firing at the ground from the air?
If you're not in the same zone (both in water, both in air, both on land) then you deal half damage.
The swamp is just.. particularly stupid for it.0 -

you have grossly oversimplified it
here's the actual stats:
both on ground = 100% damage
both in air = 100% damage
both in water = 100% damage
"A" in air, "B" on ground = "A" does 50% damage to "B", while "B" does 100% damage to "A"
"A" in water, "B" on ground = "A" does 100% damage to "B", while "B" does 50% damage to "A"
(i could be wrong, never actually tested this one, will test later)
"A" in water, "B" in air = erm... unsure how this one works, never been a time where it's come into play[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

No, no it's not normal.
It was a bug that appeared after the huge patch a few weeks ago. I know this myself because I did roughly 50 oma's on deathknights before and the second the patch appeared this bug popped up.
Unfortunately GM's have, I quote, decided it's a "minor issue and probably wont be fixed". -.- Obviously they havent tried fighting several agro'd mobs with increased life at half damage.
Originally if you were submerged (swimming) you got a damage reduction. But thanks to the bug you now get a damage reduction if the water is over a certain height. Like knee depth as opposed to fractionally below knee depth.0 -
Ah, I had some trouble with the Yayans due to this.If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.
Everyone wants to be different, but when you're different you wish you were normal.0 -
Huh....I was wondering why I was scratching those mobs to death the other day.
It doesn't help how the ground pets keep on stowing themselves (usually during the most inconvienient time) but if you stay on land, your pet should stay out. Only if you or both you and your pet are in the water might it do it, usually.Non-mule characters:

simple solution: dont be an idiot and fight in the water. (common sense)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

But most of the swamp mobs are entirely in the water. Unless you want to spend hours pecking around trying find lone wandering mobs who happened to walk onto dry land.you have grossly oversimplified it
here's the actual stats:
both on ground = 100% damage
both in air = 100% damage
both in water = 100% damage
The swamp water glitch problem is.
both in water = You deal 50% damage0 -

i would strongly suggest you invest in a bow...
1) hotkey your primary weapon, and your bow
2) equip bow with hotkey
3) shoot 1 arrow at mob
4) switch to primary weapon using hotkey
5) let mob run towards you
6) attack it once it's on dry land
sounds difficult and/or time consuming, but it adds maybe a few extra seconds of time to each kill, and is easy
if that's too much added time, you seriously need to step outside for fresh air b:chuckle (joke)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yeh but....can't they just fix the bug?
Fortunately I outleveled the swamps a good while back myself anyway.0 -

I'm an archer and I found the area to be annoying, since it's rather crowded and it's pretty easy to run into other mobs and get yourself killed.
And as far as I know, there's no way to hotkey swapping items without modding the game.If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.

1) press "B" to open inventory
2) click&drag piece of equipment to hotkey bar
3) use hotkey to switch items instantly
