Best way to lvl a genie/fairy?

right now my genie is lvl 6 or lvl 7 but i am lvl 21. i tried lvling my genie when i was lvl 8 and it was still lvl 1. but i kinda gave up on lvling it once i found out that the exp infuse thing was draining ALL of my exp... pretty sucky. so i just ignored my genie and decided to go for exp cubes. the exp cube i got at lvl 19 only got genie 1 lvl... and i have no idea on where to get more from. i heard that i can also use my spirit, but i still need my spirt for my skills so thats also kinda out of the question unless theres a way to get a tone of spare spirit...

not only that but i heard that lower ur genie gets from ur lvl, then the harder it is to lvl it because theres a exp penalty. so that means that since im 21 and its still lvl 7 or so i will have a hard time catching it up because of the exp penalty. that means more spirt/exp that i have to give up just to catch it up with me.

so like wtf? it seems the genie is more trouble then its worth or maybe im doing something wrong. is there a way that i can just buy a genie thats my lvl or something because i think all genies bought at the watcher of earth guy is lvl 1... i seriously dont want to waste my exp lvling this genie just so it can catch up and i dont want to waste my spirit points either. and idk where i get exp cubes other then the quests and those dont give genie much either.

so what is the best way u guys lvl ur genies? cuz for me it just seems like its a little demon leech/curse that is not usefull till u give it some of ur own exp/spirt... if those are truly the only ways to lvl a genie and the exp penalties for being a HIGHER lvl then ur genie or so significant, then i think ima delete mines and get on with my life lol.

Not sure about leveling genie at your level. I'd probably wait a bit seeing as you need your SP for your skills etc.

You can buy a genie your lvl if you look (or ask) around archo. Personally, I use the exp drain to my advantage. Every x9 lvl, I use it to keep me at that lvl. This lets me learn more skills and craft good equips for the next ten lvls. That's just what I do though, and won't work for everyone. I don't think there is any best way to lvl a genie at the lower lvls though. You might want to just put smaller amounts of exp in (use infuse instead of level up) every so often. Waiting till the higher lvl's when you don't have as many skills to upgrade looks to be a prime choice as well.

Well, if you had asked on Friday leveling your genie would've been a piece of cake. I find leveling your genie with spirit is too difficult, as it is scarce enough levels 20+. It's much easier using extra exp. After level 30 you have a quest called Crazy Stone, which you can do once every day for a decet amount of experience, about 20k exp. All you gotta do is buy the bottom 5 Soulgems at the Merchant and deliver them. If you use it to level your genie for a few days it will increase it's level considerably, and then you can use it for yourself after you can't level your genie. After you level, do it again and bring it up.

It would be easier for me to comment if I knew what sort of Veno you are...but...I have 4 Characters and not ONE of them uses a Genie and I do not feel I am missing out on anything. You do not "NEED" any of the Genie skills and ever sacrificing your own skills via SP to buy Genie levels is ridiculous. People got along in this game just fine before Genies existed and will continue to without using them.

What I would do is if you ACTUALLY want to get a Genie and level the little blood sucker up then you should wait until you a closer to lvl 89+ when you can pile on SP that you have no skills left to spend it on and level up the Genie that way.

Do keep in mind the Genie is an obvious device to **** the leveling/skilling process of the players to make them play longer. This would seem irrelevant to PWI but in other versions it is a Pay to Play from what I have been told and in those cases time sinks are veeery important. (Crazy Stone & World Quest being other great examples of time sinks)

How is Crazy Stone a time sink? It just takes coin and being in West Arch once per day.

As far as leveling up your genie, find out which skills you really want. Then calculate what you have to sacrifice to get that skill.

I used SP to level up my genie to get the skill Holy Path (which helps on certain boss pulls).

    Just use xp and spirit.

lol. Genies are very useful. Holy Path, Tree of Protection have both saved my life countless times... alpha male has prevented a party wipe in HH a few times, and being able to tangling mire (33% pdef reduction) or Extreme Poison (20% damage amplifcation) both of which stack with veno amp, BM dragon/glacial spike are about as nice to use on bosses as an archer's sharpened tooth arrow.

If you don't see any valid use for a genie, I'm sorry, that's pretty fail.
I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.

Well my genie is as high has me. This is because I infuse using exp. There are a few reasons why I prefer doing this although it reduces your levelling rate.

1.) You accumulate a good amount of spirit while killing monsters at your level or 1 level higher. Therefore if youre able to stay longer on that level, you get more spririt for skills earlier on. (although u cud always race up to a level where u have excess spirit to get ur skills later on and hence this merely a preference).
2.) Considering you stay at the same level, you can get the mats for crafting skills from easier mobs than the higher level harder ones which requires more effort. This means you can upgrade more of your crafting skills prior to getting to the stage where you need the next level of the crafting skill for making your armour, etc. I
3.) In addition to mats, you also collect more drops and finish more quests at that level (I am level 36 and around 50% with all quests for my level completed). This would mean you can focus on less quests during then next levels. The other argument would be that the exp from the quests have not been used correctly which is also true. Therefore is entirely preferencial.

End result is that its upto you what you sacrifice your levelling speed or your genie's levelling speed :D

I was stand off-ish for a while on Genies. I ended up buying one months after they came out for 2m, then barely using it for another couple months (it seems).

I'm also stand off-ish about charms. Turns out Tree of Protection is about as useful and much cheaper to use. I was stand offish about speed pots, though I love speed. -Holy Path is much more convenient and useful. Hercs are most vulnerable to magic damage and debuffs. - Lightning Chaser helps that affordably.

Genie's xp can be bought. It's kinda like getting upgraded tomes. You have to weigh the usefulness against cost. Also, people COULD quit laying around waiting for a res and take the xp loss which would net them a higher sp/coin ratio to xp.

Holy ****, I've got the same genie as Tweakz. b:chuckle

The way to level a genie just depends upon what you've got the most of:
XP (dumped directly into genie), Spirit (ditto) or coins (buy decomposed genies and feed the boxes in)

Mine was mostly done with XP, as I stuck at level 49 until I could afford to open the supply stash and again at 59 when I realised how few skills I had bought. A little bit of spirit went in as well.

i would recommend buying an xp cube for your genie. At lower levels, you starve for spirit points. If you use them to level up your genie you will find that you do not have enough to get the adequate skills to help you level quickly. The higher your still grades the faster u kill and therefore faster you level. b:bye

Its best to get the genie to your same level so you dont waste xp through infuse ratio.
if you have it your level your spirit is worth 5 xp per point.
my genie is garbage 1/10 lucky points and 34 lvls lower then me.
im just going to keep it as a backup genie and hopefully i can get a better one from a shop.

    Necro.

But my personal note. Spirit goes low at lower levels to 60/70. Then starts picking up when skills reach max and etc. But then this is usually when people pump spirit in their genies. Then 89+ with skills being released, it feels like level 60 all over again struggling for spirit, lol.
