Avatar Issue

Just curious, I am a Human Blademaster, only level 1, mind you. Just started. When I go to set up my avatar though, it shows a bald tough looking guy instead of what my character looks like. Is this normal, for beginner characters or something?

I checked a few FAQ's and didn't see this. Thanks for your help in advance.
