Why I Play

I started playing this game for something to do, because I was bored at another game I was playing at the time. A friend told me about this game so I decided to check it out.
Like any other game I have played it was frustrating at first but then got easier. Levels were coming and going pretty quickly, then like any other game slowed to a snails pace.
The gold prices, economy, cash shop and people that use it, and I am one of them, I'll tell you that up front, and the advantages to those that use it are common in almost any f2p game.
That being said, I continue to keep playing this game because of the people I have met in it. Quests come and go. Any high level knows there are not very many quests to do and grinding gets boring. So I choose to go around helping other players. You'd be amazed at the number of friends you can make doing this.
I am very lucky to have found a great group of people I can call my friends. They have always been there for me when needed, and I don't mean just for an FB, boss, BH. You guys know who you are. Thank you
Life is what you make it. Just make sure you have fun.[SIGPIC]<Img Src="http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m214/Dragonwindspirit/contest/Vinny_D1.jpg">[/SIGPIC]

Sigh....I guess I'm going to be forced to agree with vinny...this blows. I was never supposed to have to agree with him on things. But hey, he's right. I admit it. I play because I enjoy being with my friends and the people I have become close to. No question about that. As long as I can continue to enjoy the gameplay aspect of the game and my time with those people, I most likely won't quit. I can't say I'm not frustrated like the majority of the players right now, but trials come and go I suppose. I'll just keep doing what I do as best I can.

I can agree with you as well. I'm..a little frustrated, since its going to probably make Cat-shop prices sky-rocket, And that's my general way of buying stuff on game. But I don't think it'll stay like this forever - and don't see the point in just throwing in the towel the second things don't go my way D:

    This.

There are such things as MSN and AIM, and if you're good enough friends you'll get on there and maybe take your faction to a new game. But, this game is just getting out of control. Yes, they are a bussiness, but like any business they are here to cater to the customers wants- and by looking all of these threads and polls a LOT of their customers aren't happy. Any normal, good business would see this response and stop.

There was a time when we cared a lot, about our friends, our factions, and the game. But enough it enough. It's not a chat room, it's a game. A game a lot of us play to aspire to something- and when everything we worked for is all of a sudden just able to be bought, then we get a bit upset. Think of the veno's who paid a higher price and waited til lvl 80, actually WORKING for the coin to turn into gold to get their Hercs and within a few weeks of actually achieving something they now see lvl 20's walking around, not even knowing what skills to put on their Herc or how to even LURE properly. It's just... too much, it really is. So yes, maybe we are "abandoning" our friends, or maybe, people like me, had their whole factions ripped apart by stupid **** like this. So, I'm done, throwing in the towel. I'd like to say maybe I'll be back in a year... but.. I doubt it will be any better.

He didnt write that. Sure, theres people in Etherblade or else that chat, duel, whatever all day...
But I guess what Vinny ment is that you got friends there and its fun to hang out with them in TT/FB or anything :)

And no, I do NOT care about high level gear, refines anything, primary. What makes this game enjoyable for me is helping friends, hanging around with them, or some dungeon.

Game, not competition for me :)

I won't be staying around to argue, I just don't see the point. But you'll have to forgive those of us who actually managed to connect with people beyond how much they can do for us in the game. I don't consider the way I play "chatrooming" the game, and I don't consider myself a constant crier for peace and love either. This post was not meant as an attack on people who are upset about the current situation, I'm certainly not happy about it myself. All this did was point out his reasons for remaining despite anything else. I play the game. I love fb's, I love doing bosses, making money, and doing TT. No, I'm not into to TW, but that's my choice. I don't see any reason I would stop enjoying those things with the great group of people I play with.

He didn't say specifically "I only play pwi to chat" but you get the general idea. You can make friends anywhere, you can meet people anywhere. Welcome to the internet.

This is a game and most people play it to have fun, and getting all your achievements in this game destroyed in one update isn't fun.

One person said: "Sick of people saying they're leaving and completely forgetting their friends or roots or what they've done?" but the thing is, half of the raging is because of "What they've done" - what we've done in these past 12 months is now revealed to be a massive waste of our time.

    @Zyhara -

Good lord, Don't EVEN start to QQ about Venomancers. Expensive, yes, easy to level, very. And you know, not EVERYONE thinks of the game the same way everyone else does. I don't mind getting on and chatting with people, actually, I kinda like it. So you'll have to excuse me for polluting your common chat with light conversation.

I play to have fun, that's it. Yes, I like being competitive but socializing is great. Make some friends please. Then maybe you'll understand that sometimes people play and it's not all for the game itself. I don't even get what you're really crying about, it's not like there aren't plenty of other people out there like you that play the game seriously. If you don't want to make friends go find those people.

Although I thought since the day they introduced battle pets into the boutique that the game went downhill. A pet should not replace a proper tank no matter how helpful it is.

Sorry, but I really dont consider making friends and helping them around a waste of time...

If you value your achievements in gold, coins whatever yes. But theres people too that see the fun/work behind their achievements and that cant be taken away..
Imo its more jealousy "Oh look some rich noob now can get that what I worked my butt off for!" You got your achievement, you can say "I earned it" Why rage?

I play this game because I enjoy the people here. I value the things I have accomplished because I have accomplished them, not because I have something others don't.

If you value your time here by the things you have that others don't have then obviously you have a different definition of "play" and "game". If I have a set of X armor, and now any yutz can buy them from the catshop, I don't care. I got mine thru hard work and luck, and the only person who I need to impress is myself.

If it winds you up that much, then stop playing. If it's not fun for you anymore, go elsewhere.

    It's a *game*, not a career.

Yea, it's a business. Yea, they have to find ways to get people to spend real $$ to pay for the rest of us freeloaders.

Don't like it - there's the door. You walked in of your own free will, no one is stopping you from walking *out* of your own free will.

I'm gonna stay, because I like playing the game and I haved *some* sense of perspective. You want drama, try a Soap Opera.

And yeah, I was working for an white glowy horse from my early levels on :)
But the hell hound came out when I was level 20 or so. And I loved its looks :D Ive never really thought about getting one cause 50 gold seemed a giant price to pay back then for me.

So I kept saving up until I had I think.. all coppers and 10 silvers. Then the nien beast came out and I saw mount prices dropping by some coins. Guess what? I sold my orders and bought a HH cause I suddenly had the chance to get one and I liked it more than the horse :)

So I got my personal dream now and I can say I earned it, feels good. And even if someone decides to resell HHs for 10k now, Id still be happy cause price of that mount doesnt matter.

@Anberlin: If insulting is all you can do now feel free to do it :)

    Carebear isn't an insult anymore.

Carebear is basically all the people going "haha who cares if you're having trouble playing the actual game, its fun to be with friends."

Us Ragebears are the ones who are on PVP servers and the ones who will be losing our TW lands to which ever guild has the most rich people with their one-shot weapons.

It's more of a category than an insult, y'see?

If I can't PVP equally without spending actual money on this game, then why bother?

I think most people got jealous that someone can get easily ... there are a lot of rich kids and working adult playing here .. for them to have fun they will always want to spend cash to get fast. most of working adult have few time to play on game. So for them is the best way is spend the real cash to get what they want ..

Its just a game and its only matter of how you want to play for fun. you don't need to care about others.. its game and its fun to play together with friends

This is mine example. I working, also I have family so I don't have time for grinding 5-8h per day. For me is much better(easier) spent 10-20$ and buy what I need. It less than good dinner, which is next day in WC anyway.b:chuckle
