Catshop Overun

I've seen several complaints about catshops overrun the game. I believe there needs to be some restrictions on the catshops. I'm not suggesting to remove catshops completely, I'm simply suggesting putting restrictions on them.
* You had to purchase an item in order to make a cat shop.
* Put level requirements on that item so level 1 cats wont spam the place.
* Make the item purchaseable from a vendor so prices dont fluctuate.
* Set the item at a good price and maybe even an expiration time (IE. good for 8 hour period, 16 hour period, and 24 hour period - You can use as many times you want during those periods or you can have your cat shop up for a TOTAL of each section hours [IE. You set up cat shop for 4 hours, take a 3 day break, then you can set up for another 4 hours if you purchased a 8 hour period].
Just a suggestion but I believe it will help cut down ALOT of the needless cat shops especially the level 1's.

That sucks. It's good this way, only adding would be that you could disable them completely if you like to.100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.

No, if that happens, we'll need to spend money just to get rid of stuff. Best either leave it as is, or delete them completely and improve AH.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Same here, you know there should be like some "grand exchange" or somthing, its like the auctioner but the prices for the items are set by the GM's by the items demend an supply. Like hell, Most shops I peak into go WAY above the item's normal price like one time some lv39 player was selling lv4 daul swords for 120k an there were from the blacksmith!0 -
I like it since you can't even see the banker in west arch EVER~.
but I would make it so that around NPC's you can't set up shop in a 1 meter space around said NPC or something like that (>.<) i keep ending up finding the postbox instead of that darn banker. xD also your suggestion would make cat shops more like the auctioneer. o.o' except it sounds like theres no set up fee. O.o
but what do these 3 clauses mean exactly:
* You had to purchase an item in order to make a cat shop. (I have to spend gold to even set up the cat shop? DX)
* Make the item purchaseable from a vendor so prices dont fluctuate. (the vender will start selling gold charms, DQ mats, and TT gear????)
* Put level requirements on that item so level 1 cats wont spam the place. (So if im level 20 and have a bunch of soft fur i want to sell in a cat shop I can't do it and have to take up inventory space till I can use/buy said item?)darthpanda16: Firefox crashed on me. Aryannamage: I don't think I am a GM that would be new.
Hawk:Do this. closing thread
frankieraye: I'll see if we can replace the woman with a stick figure and the tiger fangs with marshmallows.//Issues like these need to get escalated quickly to minimize the damage.
Kantorek: Yeah.. you should try it. It's awesome.
Sihndra: Nope- not currently possible under any circumstances. Sorry.
LokisDottir: I mean...not haunting the forums, nope nope..
Konariraiden: You don't know what you are up against. You will lose.
Waiting for...Hamster Packs!

Purchasing an item to set up a cat shop is just an example, basically saying that this is a privilege, not for misusing. The vendor would only sell the item I talked about above, for example, purchasable from elders? etc.
If your under level 20, you have the auction house to use, you have the bank, or you could simply trade players. Should not be a problem with level requirement.0 -
I don't think this is a good idea. For one, I don't believe it makes a difference if a level 1 is selling an item or a level 90 is selling an item. I'm not sure what you mean by "needless" catshops, but just because a catshop is opened by a level 1, does not make them needless or unnecessary. Most people especially in West Archosaur open catshops to do business. Trying to restrict that by putting level requirements or item requirements is like saying vending is only available to the rich and able. However, it is not only those people who need to make money. Putting level requirements on items also severly inhibits merchanting, a very big aspect of an economy. If a lower level sees a good buy and decides it would be worth selling for a higher price, then they can't sell it because they're too low of a level.
As well, how would you decide what items to put in NPCs? Most people sell items that are either rare or require work to find, hence they have a value. Because they're scarce. By putting them in an NPC, that infinitely increases their supply, and the value of them becomes greatly diminished. Let's say these items were mats. Nobody would ever want to farm them again. If they were charms, nobody would buy them from the boutique. By putting items in NPCs, not only are you taking away an important aspect of the game, but nothing is being accomplished except monopolizing one of the resources of the economy. The number of catshops will remain the same, just the items in them will be different.
In any decently big MMORPG, it's to be expected to have a lot of shops in populated areas. There's no way to get around that, and to implement restrictions would only cause inconveniences and discontent in the community.
Instead, a better alternative would be to improve the functions of substitutes for catshops. For example, improving the auctioneer would lower the amount of catshops. That, in my opinion, is a better alternative than setting restrictions on shops.
EDIT** I dont know about other servers or other people, but i just took a stroll through west archosaur, and i found it surprisingly difficult to find a catshop opened by a level one. I presume that when a game has an adequately large population, it's only normal to have a proportionately large amount of catshops. Attempts to forcibly decrease this size, would only like i said before, cause discontent.0 -
Or we could just have "Catshop from hell destroyer day" where everybody that's not in catshop mode can kill the catshops, except they don't drop, charms on the catshops become invalid for the time being, and everybody has fun =D[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] With a .25x multiplier = 423520 regular
