As I am posting, this topic is the one directly below yours. b:bye

Edit: Well, it's the one below yours if you clicked New Posts or searched for "rare pets".
Edit (part 2): Also, a search for "rare pets" (same search as above) would have turned up this on the first page.

I have no idea when or where, but if your looking, you either have a lot of time on your hands, or you have no idea that the spawn spots for the rare pets are camped out and(if there was any organization whatsoever there) the line is backed up for miles. Your free to try, but your better off buying them in West Archo.

    ... Revive your pet, Kobra.

And to the OP: The rare pet spawns are indeed camped. And you need tons of -chan gear, or insane luck, if you want a chance at the rare pets. Mostly because people will often send their pet in to attack as well, so that if their tame fails, the rare pet will die and thus others will not have a chance to tame it (which is very unfair, but alas, people are greedy).

<.< surprised no one has said this, the times rnt always the same, they change every time one is caught, the spawn every 12 hours, other than that ive heard wispers of 5-6 hours after the server has reset so there is no official time. ive nvr tried cause i dont care enough to fight with all the hoarders

Well, how good you are at taming is irrelevant on your server, the question is can you survive a level 90+ phoenix hiting you long enough to actualy tame the rare?

Having tamed two tabbies and a pup on my veno... and not planning on taming much more... I'll share what I know if only to troll the farmers. :)
    • http://pwdatabase.com/pwi/ has all the spawn locations, as far as I can tell. Find the pet (listed with the monsters) you want to get, and look at the world map (it will also give coordinates).
    • In my experience, the pets always spawn within a certain window of time... this window seems to be somewhere around 7:00 to 9:00 EST. This is true for both AM AND PM, since the pets spawn twice a day, 12 hours from each other.
    • When the servers are taken down for maintenance, the spawn times change. I have not been able to figure out any rule for this, but most likely it will NOT spawn again at the time you saw it last. If you're crazy enough to camp the spawn for those 2-3 hours on Wednesday morning, you just might get a shot at it with minimal competition - just make sure you aren't nodding off when it spawns! XD
    • Every time the pet spawns, there are usually a few seconds before it is tamed (or occasionally killed). This gets added to the spawn times, so if it originally spawned at 7:30 in the morning and it took 20 seconds to get tamed, it will spawn at least 20 seconds later that same evening. Count on arriving a few minutes early.
    • There will almost always be competition - fact of life. This may or may not be true with more common pets like the snow hare, though. I've never visited a snow hare spawn. :P Also, uh... since you're on Lost City, OP, you might have PK-related problems. :(
    • There will very often be farmers. This is another, although sad, fact. -_- Some farmers are actually very nice, although they usually won't let up for your sake (at least if there is another farmer present).
    • I have noticed that you have less chance of farmers appearing early on in the "week" (right after maintenance). This seems to be for two reasons: (a) they're trying to figure out the spawn times, just like you, and (b) they often prioritize certain pets over others. The pets all spawn at roughly the same time (so I've heard), so the farmers will have to pick and choose until the differences in taming times get large enough that they can travel to another location quickly (so I've heard - though this seems far-fetched to me).
    • When it spawns, your first task will be managing to click on it. This isn't too hard with practice.
    • Channeling gear helps if you have a lot of it (conceivably), but is by NO means required.
    • If you're Lv45 or above, though, make Windrage Incense (Fleece-Flower Root + Elecampane). Practice using it correctly, and you can cut your taming cast in half.
    • If you're not 45, but you ARE 30 or higher, make Crimson Blood Powder (Elecampane +... Salvia Root? Ageratum? I forgot). This only gives you a 15% channeling speed increase, but it helps a little. :P
    • If you're under 30, there aren't any channeling options available. It sucks, and you will always get the short end of the stick when competing with farmers armed with Windrage (I hear there's a Lv90 powder that's even better than windrage, too). But that brings me to my final point...
    • Don't give up. Insane luck is more than possible. Often there isn't much communication between the venos, and no one's ever quite sure who will attack the pet to weaken it for taming, how much it will be weakened, and who will start casting when. This results in situations where your competition will cast too early and fail to tame (if you fail your cast, you're pretty much out of the running because of it's cooldown time), then the pet will be hit again just as you finish your cast. :P This is where the luck comes in. Windrage gives you greater control over when you start casting, but don't forget you can always cancel your cast if the pet has too much HP - it's better to restart your cast than to waste it. Oh... and be sure to upgrade your tame skill. That extra 5% per level can't hurt. :P

When I tamed the tabby, both times I got lucky (the second time, extremely lucky since I had at least half a dozen people to compete with and I could only use Crimson Blood Powder at the time). The first one took a week, the second one took several weeks. I managed to tame the puppy one morning because it spawned earlier than it had the night before... meaning I was completely alone, since the competition wasn't there yet. :P Then I spent the last few days trying to get another one for my gf, until tonight when we both tried at once and she managed to get it. :D

So take heart, OP. :P You'll get the pet you want eventually. If you're like me, you can even continue to try out of pure spite for the farmers. XD But I guess I'm crazy like that.

    Good guide!
The pets all spawn at roughly the same time (so I've heard), so the farmers will have to pick and choose until the differences in taming times get large enough that they can travel to another location quickly (so I've heard - though this seems far-fetched to me).
[*]If you're under 30, there aren't any channeling options available. It sucks, and you will always get the short end of the stick when competing with farmers armed with Windrage (I hear there's a Lv90 powder that's even better than windrage, too).

I'll confirm those two. I know a few veno's who run the route. Depending upon which pet gets tamed when, you can often attempt the piggy, at least one and sometimes two of the shadou and both frogs in one run.

A combination of flying and teleports does it. It's easier if there hasn't been maintenance for a while, because the tames will probably have settled down.

The powder does indeed exist, and gives instant channel. If there's a 90 willing to pop it, then they get the pet. (They're not going to fail the tame)
The powder is rare though, I believe that you have to be in a faction which holds one of the cities to make it.

It's fun to aggro rares, then make them go gold and bounce everyone elses tame. Especially when you use a pet that takes it to 60% in one shot so it looks like it will be 50 in a moment.

I can't see how that's "fun," sadly. -_- What enjoyment could you get out of tricking lower levels into not getting a pet they want?

Unless it's you who wants the pet for your own reasons (e.g. not for selling it), in which case disregard that. :P

    EDIT:

I'm not sure, but I seem to remember being told it was available in the sage/demon worlds. Which would make sense, as apparently everything else in there is beefed up to levels you can't get anywhere else (e.g. the vendors, and Lv5 mining mats).
