Got a weapon with a socket?

Hi

My mate made me a weapon and it has a socket in it, when I try and put a mirage stone in it the mirage stone goes into the slot on the blacksmiths screen but he wont accept my bow?

    Mirages stones are for refining at an elder. Blacksmiths and tailor imbue soulgems into sockets, you need shards and socketed stuff then. Refining only needs an item and a mirage, no sockets.

    Ensure the item in not equipped before you try and imbue soul stones. It should be in your inventory (not on your character) for you to drag into the imbue window.

    And ofcourse as Amiris said, you can only imbue soulstones (the stones cannot be higher level than your item's level). Mirage stones you get from the gem merchant by exchanging fragments or celestones and can be used by elder for refining a item (item doesn't need sockets for refining btw).

    Thank you. This info helped me a lot. I couldn't figure out why I also couldn't put in a soulgem but I didn't know you had to have the equipment in your inventory and not on char and I also couldn't figure out what the mirage stones were for. You guys answered all my questions in 2 posts, lol. Thanks for always taking the time with us newbies.

    Is there any thing other than soulgems that can be put into sockets ?? like molds ?? what are they ?

    moulds are rare drops from bosses and they let you make insanly powerful equiptment through the crafting skills like blacksmith, tailor, ect.

    Molds, are used to make powerful weapons and strong armor, the earliest time you can get armor is at lvl 31 i believe and i wouldn't start putting soulgems into armor and weapons until higher lvls when you can fully put them to use.

    Also to make certain molded armour or weapons you need the drop which is a very slim chance to get
