So basically i hear demons babrs are for rich players and sage for cheap players. Demon can get gear to make up stats for sage n not the opposite. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. Every demon/sage i read tells me nothing. Sage gets 10% more hp n 40% more def. Is that really gonna be that big of a deal to make up the added damage n crits? I know I could take a slightly better beating as sage n thought sage up until a couple days ago. Honestly I'm really confused now due to the idea of damage and tanking and crit of demon.

First there are alot of Sage // Demon threads so check...
secondly im demon just FYI
basically for a barb: Sage = PvE such as: you get more HP, more Def and u do more DMG* (check bottom of the post)
Demon barb: PvP such as: you get no phis attack reduction change to tiger, you get more crit%
to be the "ultimate" barb you would want to be Demon, and buy yourself alot of nice HP + gear like a sage and get some nice phis def and magic def from belts and rings. because you cant buy the +50% crit a demon barb can stack you also cant buy Demon Sunder: 5 secs ever hit is a crit... b:victory

SAGE: 25% reduced dmg for 15 secs -- very PvE --
DEMON: 25% increaced attack speed for 15 secs -- very PvP --
as most of you know ecatomb.net shows NOT!! always 100% accurate representation of skills but enough to get the idea. it will tell you what the bonus of each skill as a SAGE or DEMON barb.
* sage is higher stable dmg
* demon is higher spike dmg

ok so ecatomb may have been incorrect in what I read. I read forums at night at work, i've searched through the others. I just dont see how its more stable damage for a sage barb, maybe in human form for the axe/hammer mastery, but for tiger wouldnt the demon put out much more. No damage reduction and 5 secs always crit and high crit%. Being a demon barb doesnt limit your tanking capabilities that much does it?0

It does compromise your tanking ability, by a lot. Still being barely enough to tank easy bosses does not mean your tanking ability isn't compromised.
Even if you go demon, your firepower will still be severely lacking compared to other classes, unless you restat vit to str and dex, which further compromises tanking ability.
There's also arma/perd, which is the single most powerful skill in the entire game. Sage tank barbs do massive damage with it and oneshot people. A Demon DD barb can't remotely match this kind of spike damage in one hit.
Demon DD barbs can also get one hit by wizards or even attack clerics, a good sage tank can survive anything.
No matter how you look at it, Sage tank build is the way to go.0 -

Ok so heres the comparison between damage of the two: (Im considering buffs and passives only)
axe and hammer, sage has +25% wep dmg than demon
Strength of Titans, sage has +10% wep damage than demon
trueform, sage has -50% wep dmg than demon
poison fang, sage has -10% more wep damage than demon
So yes in humanoid a sage does more steady damage than a demon. In tiger the demon has about 25% more damage. The sage trades off that 25% damage for more survivability.
But thats how its meant to be a sage barb doing more damage than a demon in tiger would be kinda OP no?
Overall though the demon would do more damage from higher crit rates (not sure if the tigerform passive's will apply in human). Like already said, if you are rich (i.e can refine everything to +12), go demon even on PvE.

with the right combination, wizards can one shot anything....
PVP wiseSins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.

monthernoob being a demon barb doesnt make u alot worse tank at all...
firstly cuz i dont think anyone on sanc server has the +120% phis def level 11 skill for tiger form
so we all have the same p def except sage gets the +10% hp
so are you saying that a demon barb is now really bad at tanking cuz we lose 10% hp?

before i left this summer 2 months ago, i was like rank 2 pk on my server now after 2 months not playing im rank 6... for a while was highest rank barb pk in PWI i have never been one hit i dont think i know a barb that has been 1 hit 85+ especially just by a wiz. or let alone just... one hit....
and that dmg counter u have posted there with takes 7.8k dmg... that woulnt even tick my charm...
i hit arma zerk crit + tree 32,000 on arcanes so dont talk like wiz are insane cuz they just arnt

Nurfed (Level 100 wiz on HL) does 27k crits to 8x barbs. Pretty sure he could 1 shot you.0

I agree demon barbs can tank well, but sage makes a better tank than demon. Sage barbs have more damage, defense and HP while demon have more crit. Also, don't sage barbs have speed increase?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
