I tried many classes. Most of the magic classes to be honest. Cleric was good, but people were annoying me. And Venomancer, while adorable were not my cup of tea.

I was toying between the Wizard and the Cleric this morning. I noticed the following.

Wizard (Skills are pretty available and not so expensive. She seems to be able to beat mobs 2 levels higher than her level and well with Gush to slow, Stone rain as a second attack, and some kiting with Pyrogram it seems to be effective.)

The Cons are really only no travel power, and an inherant blandness of being human, of which I have personal experience being b:laugh

My cleric, pros were healing and buffing and some damage. However the cons were annoying Pugs where people were not listening to me and got killed and then blamed me for it.

Now I am really big into crafting. Farming mats and items for my guild to use to build our power. Is this a good class to do that with?

Im sticking as a wizard.

about the mat gathering part, clerics have it easy in my opinion with mats. Twilight Temple mats anyways... No cleric has to go on a long search for a TT party, mages on the other hand.. they have problems finding squads. But, have fun with ur mage.

My main is a wizard and I love the class, and I hope you will enjoy it too. However, I think you may have chosen the class for the wrong reasons. One of the things I enjoy most about playing the wizard is for the challenge. It is the most difficult class to play: our spells are very expensive and will leave you broke, we are squishy, we do not excel at farming, and we are the least wanted/needed class in the game.

If your goal is to be helpful to your faction, then role a barb or cleric. If you want the best character for farming, role a veno.

I do not want to discourage you from playing a wizard, like I said I love the class, but maybe you should read the wizard guides to make sure you have the class that is right for you before investing your time in this character.

with a good faction you shouldnt have trouble getting TT mats.

she has valid reasons to choose her class. She wants a class she enjoys and can help people with and if you didnt notice, wizards are a helpful class. The make dimentora go by so fast :P
Sins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
    ...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze

Yes, wizards can be very helpful. ALL classes are potentially helpful pending on the situation. But if being helpful to others is important to her decision-making then no, wizard is not the optimal choice available to her.

Furthermore, she states that she enjoys farming. Once again, is wizard the best choice for this activity? No.

She also identifies wizards as having spells that are available and inexpensive. Speaking in terms of all the classes to choose from, is this a valid qualifier for her decision to go with a wizard? No.

She likes the idea of being able to kill mobs that are a higher level than she is. Is a wizard her best option to kill higher level mobs? No.

However, if we are to ASSUME that she enjoys playing with the wizard, then yes that is a valid reason to go with this character..... the very best reason one could have. The only valid reason I see in her posts though to be a wizard is that they have nice hair b:chuckle

Wasnt going against wizzies, but you have to admit its "easier" for a cleric to find a squad than a mage for hh. o_o

Find me a good mage for hh runs and ill go along, tbh tho.. they always steal agro when im in party with one <_<. Not sure if it's the tanks fault or the mage, but i get scared when i see one in my hh parties ._.

Cleric > Mages. When played right a cleric can **** any class in PvP, and PvE wise your always needed in practically everything. Not to mention leveling fast in dual AOE with a BM.

Meh, I don't see why its a problem really. I just don't read whatever he writes. And if you like helping your guild with mats and stuff wizard is not good class for that.

Veno, barb, and cleric are a much better "helping" class.

If you like a class that can deal with mobs several levels higher fast I would suggest a Fist Master honestly. Mine is notorious for taking on groups of 5 to 6 monsters 5 levels higher and coming out with hardly a scratch (No HP Charm or Healing other than Sutra btw). No lone wizard dream of doing that.

As for mat gathering the best is really Veno. You can have your pet fend off monsters while you gather the mat which totally takes care of that little problem. (And keeps someone from stealing the mat from you after you kill the monster guarding it)

if doing what is selected was her goal, would not a axe blademaster be a better choice? it could drop those 6 mobs much faster than a fist bm, therefore taking even less damage.

No, cleric is just easier to play with in PvP especially because of heals. I have some problems taking down clerics and in return they have big problems taking me down. After lvl 80 not so much but from what I see now after lvl 90 the dif in PvP is done by the player and not the char.
And regarding AoE grind...dude...just let it be. Wiz can AoE the same way with a cleric/BM, get some phys metal mobs and a cleric to heal and the stage for pwnage is set.
There's a lot of good information on this forum and there's a lot of bull**** also. Unfortunately, alot of ppl take the bull**** and make it religion.

i dont have problems getting TT runs. My guild leader and another guildie actually did 1-3 drum until i got enough for my glaive.
I do a lot of 2-2 for apocs pages and i got a good amount now.

wizards can aoe grind too. If you are LA get a charm round up some metal physical mobs and dragons breath them. Or you can get a cleric to BB and you take them down.

Wizards require some thought, if you want to keep enjoying them. They need good gear, decent play strategies, and so on.

If my experience matters, my experience with wizards matches yours, but I took a month and a half, getting from level 30 to level 40 with a lot of farming -- and shopping -- in between. I am doing really well for my level, but people I helped when they were lower level than I are now in their 70s or 80s. Fortunately, for me, I do not want to reach level 70 this year (maybe late next year) -- and I think this would hold true for me even if they raise the level cap next month.

dam? took me 9 days to get from 1-40 o.o' (with no shopping D: I should probably shop more~ if i only had the money (>.<)) QQ *poor hamster* b:sad *p.s. gah just bought my level 49 moves now im even more dirt poor D:*
