Apparently they're really expensive, Atleast thats what most people told me [for my first character], so now I use a Venomancer

I don't see why archer would be particularly expensive...

    - arrows? you can make them yourself, and even if you buy them (which I do >.>) the basic ones are good enough and not that expensive.

    - skills? we're limited by spirit more than coins, just like everyone else

    - burn through alot of pots? I'm starting to use alot of mp especially on flying mobs, but so far I've picked up MUCH more potions than I've actually used, and even managed to give a bunch to some cleric friends, or just resell them.

    - charms? obviously if you zhen alot it's going to cost, but that's out of the question. You can't zhen AND hope to make money over time. Solo grinding is just as good and can easily net you all the money you need.

    - equipment? Just like any class, if you want the best gear you're gonna have to pay for it. An archer that limits himself to pve is not really gear-dependent, since you have to hold back anyway not to steal aggro from the tank

Sure we can't solo TTs, but I don't think we're the worst class either as far as money goes

Archers just dont make money easily. Besides that you mostly dont have very high repair costs, only just some potion costs, which u can keep low too if u dont spam skills too much.
Other thing is that high lvl archer weaps and armors are kinda cheap compared to the armors for other classes.
If you've been bad, Lord I bet you have
And you've not been hit by flying lead
You'd better close your eyes and bow your head
    And wait for the ricochet.

how is high lvl archer armor kinda cheap? all same grade tt armor (light/robe/heavy) require the same mats.

I believe he's probably talking about stuff like Armor of Grieving Sorrow. And besides, there aren't too many classes that actually use Light Armor, other than the rare Venomancer or Wizard and of course all Archers. Barbarians and BMs use Heavies, Venos, Wizards and Clerics mainly use Arcane, leaves Archers as the only ones with Lights. So yeah, if you're buying the armors, it might be cheaper.

That depends a lot. For example, I was sitting on about 200k spirit for quite a while until I had enough coin to upgrade the skills that I wanted to upgrade.
    - burn through alot of pots? I'm starting to use alot of mp especially on flying mobs, but so far I've picked up MUCH more potions than I've actually used, and even managed to give a bunch to some cleric friends, or just resell them.

Well, that depends a lot. I rarely find myself buying MP potions, whereas I don't buy HP ones at all as I prefer going with a charm.

320k coin for my level 6 barrage >.<

If you want to do PvE only then yes archers can be really cheap.

If you want to do PvP at all though you will need more money.

You need a hp charm. Yes, NEED, otherwise you will be ganked and have no chance to react. However with a charm if someone attacks me out of the blue I'm usually able to kite allowing my HP to fill and to wait out the cooldown. Then I can turn around and kill whoever attacked me.

Refinements: We can do massive amounts of physical damage. We don't really always need to highly refine our weapons until much higher levels. I have a +3 Thundercrack and I can one shot robes. But if you follow a pure dex build (1str 4dex per lvl) then you need to refine your armor for the HP bonus or you will have no survivability in group PvP/TW.
The only way to win is to quit. b:bye

i would go with a pure DEX build (1 sTR 4 DEX) first going off it may be a tad hard but not to much so. when you get key skils things will get easyer.....MUCH easyier...... like mobs can't get to you easier.

    1. Crazy Damage.
    2. Not TOO often, but yes they die.
    3. My pure dex archer (42) is a pot addict. b:chuckle
    4. Pure Dex (Str to meet next bow/sling/xbow, rest in DEX) is the ONLY build IMO.
    5. I got all skills and have used em all quite a bit. Take Aim (even though it seems useless) is quite good to start a combo.

Take Aim is actualy a pretty good alternative to Deadly Shot (quite expensive to level, and high mp cost too).

You can either leave it at level one and use it to fill up on chi, although I never really understood that... just auto attack if you need chi?

Or you can max it and use it as an opener. It's VERY useful on those higher level mobs that the standard frost>hit>knockback>hit combo just isn't powerful enough to kill.
Take 300% weapon damage with take aim lv10, combined with a natural high chance of crit, and you've got a good chunk of the mob's hp down in only one hit, before he even starts going after you. That's what makes it so good.
