For the benefit of those who'll find this thread through search looking for this answer, you can enable it by doing the following:

Click on System (bottom right corner of your screen) -> System Settings -> "Game" tab. You'll see the different chat channels listed under Chat Region. Select the channel you'd like damage to be tracked in and tick "Damage" from the list to the right.

If you want to avoid spamming up your regular chat box more than it already is, you may want to add the Damage option to the General channel (which is the little box above your chat window).
