Newbie questions about PvP

Hi

I started in Harshland and was wondering about a few things. I couldn't find the answers in searches so I hope it's worth the thread:

- Are there PvP restrictions in squad or faction? Say, can squadmates / faction mates PK one another?

- If you're AOEing some mobs and say a lvl 30 nubbie happens to walk by and gets owned (dies), do you get pinked?

- If there are no PvP restrictions for squad members, how do you AOE grind?

And a question that's probably better to post on HL server forum but what is it like on a PvP server post lvl 30? Do most people hang around and help each other out (eg for quests or FBs)? Or is there a trend of pkers who might kill their FBmates for loot, etc? Should I expect to get ninja-pked often while grinding?

u cant kill a squad member,only if u exit
u have a wrong concept here,u can only atack some1 if u keep ctr button pressed, so u cant kill an innocent player with aoe by mistake..only if u keep ctr pressed.
u cant kill a squad member. (said that be4) and, as i said u can aoe grind.u only hit them if theyre not in your squad and u keep ctr pressed.

PvP restrictions on squad and faction are: Unable to PK squadmates. Able to kill factionmates if filter is off/ctrl is held.

AoE will only kill whitenames in AOE if your whitename filter is turned off.

3rd question is void

You tend to get PKed a lot from 3x-4x (two, three times a day) but after that most people leave you alone.

You can kill players without pressing Ctrl, you just need to put your protetions off, like I do

So with the filter on, do you have to press Ctrl for every attack when you fight someone, or just the initial attack? Holding it throughout a pk session sounds kind of painful...

And one more question, if someone attacks you first, do you still get pk penalty if you kill them in retaliation? Will you still have to press Ctrl to attack back?

\You have to hold it.

No, as soon as another goes red or pink, you can kill them with no penalty other than going pink yourself (for 5min or something like that, never timed it)

If redname protection is off you do not have to hold ctrl to fight back.

r u even in a pvp sever? u got it all wrong k this is the truth when u get 2 lvl 30 u can take off safey pk u can uncheck ack faction members, friends, white names.if u take them off u can just click a 30+ like a mob it will just ack him and if u aoe by them will its off it will still hit them.if its on u have 2 hold alt i think 2 ack other ppl

yes, i do play on a pvp server, she/he only asked if u can aoe some1 by mistake..that ideea..., only if u have filters on or ctr.

Well, I'm past 30s on HL and I've been getting pked at least 10 times a day. Apparently everyone goes after clerics since we're so squishy at lower levels. x.x But they come and go in waves so there are usually some quiet times.

Some lessons in case it helps someone new to pvp server:

- I learned to not let your guard down around anyone with a pink/red name. Some high lvls pking in lowbie areas like to play with their food. x.x

- Vast majority of BMs coming towards you on a sword is about to attack you, red name or not.

- And I've learned to finish attacking whatever it is I'm killing even if I see a pker coming, so the mob doesn't get last hit with -5% exp penalty.

- Grinding near water helps if you don't have boutique aerogear. If a pker comes, they don't always bother (or see you) if you go in the water and swim too deep to get hit.

- Put your stackables in smaller piles so you don't lose everything if something drops.

It is pretty exciting though. A lot more interesting than a PVE server since you always have to be alert, and occasionally you get a fight with a similar leveled player and it's a lot of fun to try out new tactics.
