Hey guys. Here is my issue:
Im taking a course here in my city, and I'm trying to connect to the game servers thru their internet, yet I get no ping responses for any of the servers. I believe that they have certain ports blocked on the wireless router, but I dont have access to change/update them. Is there a program on the net that I can use/install on my laptop that will enable ping responses to come to my computer so that I can play PW? If you have any ideas or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. If you have any more questions regarding my post, please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks alot!

If the campus has a phone number you can call to get in touch with someone about that, you need to call it. Trying to circumvent their security measures can get you expelled.

    Two things you can do:

    1. Bring a LAN cable and hardwire it (i.e. don't use wireless). In some cases a hardwired computer has better luck.

    2. Some colleges have secure or otherwise "special" wireless networks which don't have ports blocked / allow games / etc. Assuming you're a student there, you should have access to such a network if it exists. Try talking to the campus tech services people and see if they have such a thing.

Yes, I'm still a stubborn holdout in favor of the old game. Haters gonna hate. ;]

There's one option if they can't/don't open it(and they won't).

Use a proxy and a program such as proxifier to route all your PC's internet traffic through the proxy. Make CERTAIN it is one in the US that doesn't "roll," or you'll get banned.

Basically, set it up so that your PC is conecting to another server on port 80, which then redirects to the PWI servers. It works. It's pretty laggy, but it's the only way to circumvent router policy. Unfortunately, the university in question may ban you from their net altogether if you're caught, so try it at your own risk.
