Language filter

I miss the filters on the fourms of another mmo. Instead of being ***** it said [I have a potty mouth]
You don't accidently type something unless its a typo. You think about what you are going to type before you type it. If you don't want a filter, remove the need for it. Don't use the language in the first place.Main characters

Nobody wants your pink and roses chat to be affected in any way.
Also, what some of you are forgetting, if a player wants to insult another, they will do so. No amount of filtering will stop it. However, like someone already mentioned before, proper text sometimes gets mixed and filtered, butchering the english language.
The only diference between what we have now and a optional filter is that players wont have to learn to type incorrectly like they do with filter.
PS: Elitism is far more offensive than foul language. Should i report you?
I find this seriously amusing! He's moaning about butchering proper English with ****'s while he wishes to use improper, butchered English... b:chuckle
Besides that, I'd say a fair percentage of young players will work out how to turn off a filter and spam it, believing it to be tough, funny and adult. If you have to resort to constantly using such language, you're telling everyone you are of limited capacity to understand and explain things otherwise.0 -

No one knows the boundaries, you are right. So the game has clearly taken the NO vulgar language rule, and no one wants to uphold it.Konariraiden - Heavens Tear wrote: »You see what I did here? Second, i dont live in a teletubbie world.
Third, im not asking to opt out of filter so i can go around insulting everyone i see, nor do i want others to do so. For some reason you make it sound like we're all 'potty mouths' and have zero social skills.
Fact is, what i want is for everyone to have an option. What you want is for everyone to be like you. What you still seem to fail to understand is that with the option, you'll still remain in the same situation you are now whereas right now, i have to live in a teletubbie world you enjoy so much.
I just want everyone to be able to choose. In no way would making it optional affect you in any way.

The point is, they don't want that language in the game in the first place. Either stop using it, and show you actually know other words, or go back to english classes and learn new words.Main characters

The problem is, it's just easier for the moderators to leave the filters on permanently. If they made it so they could be disabled, they'd have all the idiot parents out their crawling up their butts because Perfect World isn't doing what they as parents should be doing themselves and protecting their brats from what they don't want them to be exposed to. You seem to underestimate just how lazy modern parents can be. Rather than doing their jobs themselves, they expect the rest of the world to make sure their twerps aren't watching rated R movies, playing violent video games with lots of foul languages, or eating too much candy before bed time.0 -

The foul language will not dissapear. Not now not ever. It's in our nature. You can preach and preach but nowhere will there be a comunity where foul language isn't used. Fighting a natural thing is tiring, counterproductive and all around useless. If a person's language is bothering you, ignore him, blacklist him, pk him, whatever. But don't go on a "step back! I will show this lost soul the true way of kindess and understanding, cause I glow with sanctity" rampage. I hate overly good people as much i hate bad people. Because both are trying to hard impose their point of view.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Then what part of, "you are breaking the rules by even using such language" do you not understand?

Sounds like you fear getting reported for your language. If you don't like it, I found this in the terms as well. Feel free to act on it.

it is easily possible to remove the language filter, meaning that when swear words leave ur pc they dont get turned to **** but however when somebody else gets the swear word on their chat it gets turned to **** becuase they have the filter on.
if we got everybody to remove their language filter then in theory you could swear at will, and all GMs would see is **** unless they had the language filter taken out aswell?
but i suppose they would serverside it after a while.
i can easily build this patch if anybody wants it0 -

It has nothing to do with lazy parents. In order for them to implement such a filter, they would have to contact EVERY parent who has previously released their children to play this game as per the prior Terms of service. The TOS would have to change to allow this.
You are seriously anti-child. Which tells me you clearly don't have children in the real world. My children aren't BRATS. They are very well behaved, very respectful and very intelligent children. You are putting all children in a category which is called "stereotyping". Children also should not be called twerps, you are merely giving Zoe more reason to want even further filter implemented. You are resolving to spew insults about children in a thread currently being fought about the protection measures of them.
By the way, you just broke several forum rules yourself. Trolling/Flaming/insulting. There is no need for it. You surely can get your point across about how you feel on the issue without insulting others, or demeaning children.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

This thread descended into flames long ago.
Alright, I get were OP is coming from, I know of games that have a filter that can be enabled or disabled at will. Aside from the fact that this could have been posted in the suggestions section I understand your point of view.
The bottom line is evading the chat filter is against the rules. If you do it, you can be reported.
What I say is, don't break the filters, but I am not delusional or Utopian in my thought process, so a caveat to this would be: whether or not you choose to break the filters, you can be reported if you are typing publicly. Be aware of the risk involved and please try to keep the public chat channels clean.
We will ask about such a filter, however for the time being we will have to work with what we have been provided. I never really considered profanity to be a requirement in order for me to get my point across, so no excuse can be given if you do happen to get reported for this.
