Is PKing penalty justified on pvp servers?

Well I have been playing on Harshlands server which is supposed to be a pvp server, but if you look at the penalties of pking they are huge. If you pk a person you stay pink for 1 hour in which u will at least drop one item when you die. Now I am sure the reason one joins a PvP server is for the fun of Pking and not just killing monsters and grinding.

Shouldn't the pk penalties be based more upon if you are killing a person your own level or someone who is 5-10 levels lower than you ? Because unless that is the case you can never Pk until you are really high level or you have nothing in your inventory (which is impractical) as you will eventually find a high level person who will kill you if you have a pink/red name.

Your thoughts are welcome

well.. if there is no penalties for pk, or low ones.. u can be sure that high lvl will love to have fun killing lowbies, and them the lowbies will quit the game.
about the itens.. that why that exist DOLLS, soo u wont drope your itens.. and u give cash" directly or not.." to the game"

Thats why I mentioned that the penalties should be levied if you kill someone who is of lower level than you and not if you kill any player.

As for dolls it is the same thing either spend real money or wait to get to a higher level where you can afford to buy dolls. At the initial levels the items u drop are cheaper then a doll...

Well if you pk your gonna have to take what's coming. There's no feeling of danger if you are red for only a few minutes or not lose items when you're red and hunted by pker-killers or get too much stuff for doing it (some ppl want to get all the equips on the target and experience). Life as a criminal is hard... I like the pk system on this game.

You don't want penalties? Actually pvp properly and give the other guy a chance to fight back. If they hit you back they'll turn pink, then you can kill them without going red.

Oh I forgot, you can't kill anyone that can fight back. They just kill you.

PK pentalties are fine: you should only really go red from ganking/killing lowbies. And I don't give people the chance to hit back cause I only have 2,2k hp

I don't think any modification is needed on the actual pk system. I think it's just the way it should be. More punishment for pk will drive the pvpers away and there's no point in that. On a pvp server is only fair to be able to attempt to kill anyone. More rewards will make the ideea of "player killer" lose it's essence. As a player killer you are an outlaw, criminal always on the run (red name=drops equip, guards killing, carebears crying), so being a pker means fighting your destiny and the odds against you. Overrewarding make your life to easy and pking becomes like grinding.

To Zoe, there's no shame in stealth when you are killing someone. It's part of the strategy and the thrill. Remember in other games there are classes with invisibility and the ability to mimic mobs in order to ambush players. I'm not dissing dueling, but the rules of dueling (written and unwritten) actually take away the chances of some classes to win, classes that use ninjakilling in order to be succesful (like a wizard).

I personally don't have a problem with the actual pvp system of PW. There are other games with harsher pk policy.

Read the thread carefully ... it asks for higher penalties from higher lvl pll killing low level... I have no issues with being pink or red when I kill someone in a fair fight but what follows is a higher level player who is 60.70+ comes and Pks you just because you have your name in pink and being a 30 something you are a sitting duck for them. So a good alternative would be that there are penalties only if you are kill by some one say max 5-10 lvl above you or any level below you not if someone who is 92 comes and kill a red/pink named lvl 37 player

Also what i gathered is that even if you kill lots of pink named player your name turns red (I do not know this for sure so any clarifications would be welcome).

Well, if the 92 kills lowbies they are basically a failure, they go red, and have to pay for dolls. Harsh enough, I'd say.

And no, you only go red from killing whitenames.

Some how I think you're laying into stealth killing, isn't the best pvper one who doesn't die? And the less you get hit the less chances of you dying? Therefore pvping properly? And in that respect wouldn't stealth killing be proper pvp? I dunno about you, but there are some pretty hardcore rogues in pvp servers on WoW that will stealth gank you if you don't pay attention.

Penalties are fine, if you want to pvp on a pvp server (duh) then you lose equips, simple. Don't pvp if you don't like losing stuff. It's why I stick to pve servers. Not to mention it gets personal when you're out there grinding mobs and some level ninety noob that can't help but pass up an easy kill, comes out there and one shots you while you're busy doing your own thing.
