If you select someone and do Assist Attack, you'll automatically target the mob they're targetting, good if the mob is small or someone/their pet is too fat >.>

in a squad setting, clerics don't do damage dealing really, unless there is more than one. they should be doing their job as a cleric... buffing and healing people so they stay alive to keep you alive so you can get your quest completed (or simply get xp while grinding). I absolutely hate it when I party with a cleric who forgets they are a cleric and doesn't do their job.

In that situation, I'd probably alternate - nuke a few mobs, then when mana is getting low, sit back and heal for awhile. As long as you're just healing, and don't draw aggro, you'll stay out of combat mode, and should be able to regain mana. When you get a decent amount of mana again, nuke a few mobs ...

Another option is to stay out of squad and just heal. That way the EXP/drop rate won't suffer because of your high level, so your friend will get much more benefit out of it. Of course, you'll get nothing that way - but if it's for a friend, you may not mind (and really ... how much are you gonna get from lvl 20 mobs anyway? :P).

Solaere, you read it backwards. He is playing a level 4 cleric and squadding with a level 20 friend. He should get plenty of EXP, SP, and good drops from that.

He should be aware that even just healing his friend can sometimes draw the monster his friend is attacking, so doing heals only when it's an emergency, the monster is nearly dead, or between attacks might be the safest, though also the most boring, bet.

Devils_Heir, don't feel bad about tossing in some Plume Shots or Great Cyclones every once in a while, just make sure that you have enough mana left over to do 2 or 3 Ironheart Blessings (IBs). For really big monsters, ones bigger than your friend, you can just keep doing IBs on your friend over and over and the "heal over time" part of those spells will stack. (The other healing spells aren't as good, so focus at first on leveling up your IB when possible for healing.)

Remember, if you're playing the game for enjoyment then you shouldn't feel bad about what you're doing... or not doing. b:laugh

    *facepalm

no.. I think you were the one that misunderstood.

the OP is the higher cleric (32 judging from the avatar) and helping a level 20 friend. The OP said "how does it work 4 a cleric" not "how does it work for a level 4 cleric".

I'm sure they mean level as in the number displayed on your portrait. :)

Ugh, you're right. A combination of posting while sleepy and people who lazily/pointlessly use numbers for words. b:surrender
