Jumping bug

When my untamed tiger jumps, quite often the jump is visually erratic (switching between ground and air) and the end result is the jump barely moves forward or upward. Can this be corrected? I started noticing for the last 2-3 patches and it hasn't gone away.

It's called rubberbanding. It's my speculation that it has something to do with the game's engine.Owner of MadAngels Lost City Faction.

Oh man it's been around long enough to attain a verb for a name. Is the game based on a 3rd party engine or is it home grown? If it's the latter then the problem can be corrected much easier.0

Rubberbanding. Lmao. That explains a lot, and is quite descriptive of the problem. I've never seen this in any other MMO.0

Just died today at 99% because of this bug. Aggroed more than I could chew by accident, tried to escape and was stuck rubberbanding until death. Fun.0

Well, occasionally is one thing, but this happens ALOT to me on this character, it’s so serious I’m considering ditching him.
Squishiness and not being able to evade a mob don’t go well together.b:angry I WANT KATHRU PUP BACK AGAIN !!! b:angry

The rubberbanding term has been around longer then MMOs.
Network latency, or hardware lag can often be the cause.
It could also be a multicore CPU issue too.

It's started after patch 166, No one had issues this extreme until that patch.0

This.
Same thing occuring on my side after that patch.
At first i thought:
"Hey, looks like we're mounting on our aerogear much faster than it used to, nice improvement "
Until i soon noticed the annoying rubber-banding, and just as mentioned above, it's especially annoying when fighting monsters/bosses and you need to evade them by flying but only to get drawn back and forth until you die0 -

Along the same vein...
When I drop out of the sky onto an NPC and I go to "lift-off" again I start RubberBanding It did not do this prior to the 166 update.

Also, new one since last update. When I grind around Emmolation, on the hills, more often than not, if I double jump to get around, it "rubberbands" me back to the first jump. It is getting really annoying to get around....Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.0

yea thats annoying too, when i go down a steep hill i often get rubberbanded back to the top and it just keeps repeating the process over and over again, was stuck doing that for 20 seconds or so one time.0 -

Lol....this happens all the time on mounts. If you jump going down a hill (even in Arch) you pretty much stay in one place b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I guess PW is trying to prevent people from jumping over the edge....Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.0 -
I would also like to note that I have begun experiencing this *extremely* often since patch 166. I'll get dumped into the water during the Snake Isle dungeon race at least three times trying to get to the island on checkpoint 3(I think it's 3). Drops you off your mount, too, which really aggravates me. I see it happening to a lot of other people, too, and I'm pretty sure when something happens to practically everyone, it's not their computers. Something has changed in the code that's causing this. Just like the catshop bug (which is now thankfully fixed for me since version 166), I can reproduce it on 3 different computers on 2 different internet connections (one being a T1 line with extremely low latency).0
-
It's happening here, too, and I've never had the problem. Even a Verify leaves it intact.0
-
Yeah I've experienced a similar problem.
It happens especially in territory wars (I noticed the most in TWs is on the far west-ish side of the map).
I've never personally experienced it causing me any problems (like me dying cuz of it) but I can see why it could be bad.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Note: No thats not me... I stole that from the interwebs b:chuckle

I'm lying face down in a ditch cause of this and I noticed its mostly when flying and I'm sure its a patch problem cause this never happened this bad before0

Friends dont let friends drink and fly.... or lying face down in a ditch can happen....Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. When I set elementclient so its on only one processor the most recent jumping bug becomes tolerable.
I still have problems but they are not quite so bad.0 -
i've noticed this as well... it used to only occur that when jumping off a cliff from an extreme height (say.. 50->24) i'd get stuck in a near-infinite lag-loop, which prevented me from performing any actions for at least 15-20 seconds (i've died numerous times thanks to that one)
after the recent patches, i'm getting this "rubberbanding" even on flat terrain (never going uphill tho)... what is especially pissing me off is that normally, when i go to fly away from mobs that are about to kill me, i doublejump-fly.. now when i doublejump-fly i get pulled right back to the ground, more often then not straight back into the mobb:bye0 -
If you move super fast when there is a bunch of geometry around, or there are a bunch of players or mobs, you can get caught in that loop. Be careful autopathing while flying over mobs too.
Stop flying to get out of the loop.Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

except... these new rubberbanding effects are new... never happened before, even while in west archo... which is lagged all to hell both graphically and server-lag-wise...b:bye0
