How To Choose A Good Class For You: Simple Test

Hi everyone! Its me. I was thinking back on all my perfect world experience and I noticed that one of the more challenging things was choosing a class.

Well actually, the concept of choosing a class was easy, but at the start I switched around with a bunch of alts, I wasn't sure which one I wanted to be, I tried out a veno a few times before I came to this one.

I decided to simplfy the experience and possibly make life easier for a few people just begining on Perfect World International.

I grabbed a sheet of paper and with my experience (though its somewhat limited) drew up a basic plan of how it would work. I took basic facts about each class and made a kind of multiple choice test.

All you do is go to choosingaclass.means.it and from there you just start the test and click on which answer applies correctly to you.

Although I'll try to avoid sounding like e-harmony I do have to say it matches opinions of players to facts about the classes and therefore tries to find which class is most compatible for you. However this assumes you have at least some knowledge of MMORPGs or other games and know some of the gaming terms, however I tried to keep it simplified or provide explanations.

I'm not saying that the class it comes up with is the one you should go with, nor am I saying that it is the best class for you (or that you will enjoy playing it the most). The whole thing of which class you like only comes with game experience. You might think you'd really like to be a BM then turn out wanting to be a cleric or something else. Its really up to you.

I'm just hoping to speed up the decision progress and help some newcomers get going on their character.

    I tried something like that awhile ago, though mine was much simpler, it's just some of the terms in the questions just get confusing for new players. What I was told is just new players read up on the classes on class info and read the class forum. Your questionare dominated mine. b:cry

    You are best suited to be a barbarian.

    Barbarians have evolved from pandas, lions, and other beasts. The barbarian is a natural-born warrior on the battlefield, and is comfortable taking hits and returning the punishment. These fighters are also capable of shapeshifting into white tiger form in order ot maximize their physical defense and damage mitigation. Barbarians can allocate their stats in a variety of ways, either building for maxmimum defense or maximum damage. The weapons available are the Clubs, Poleaxes, Sledgehammers, Dual Handaxes, and Dual Hammers.

    The other thing is that you have to go with what you believe in and want, if you answer it silly - or not quite what you wish for - then it renders it ineffective.

    Although you never know decep, maybe you might wanna get a barb alt :)

    Nice work. Simple statistical tool.

    One suggestion though. There's a "Double question" in there that can confuse the hell out of ppl.

    "Do you mind dying or are you up to the challenge? Yes/No

    YES: Yes I'm up for the challenge, but yes I mid dying?
    NO: No I don't mind dying but I'm not up for the challenge?

    There are always alot of these questions to find what you wanna be, but alot of them are stupid. 'What's your favorite color?' ...The hell does that matter? 'Do you like this test?' WTF?!

    i took damage dealing and healing and got to veno....
    cleric dmg is higher and heals are better
    clerics r not all about buffing, healing and ressing >.<

    Says I shoud be a Wizard, My main char in game is a Lvl 72 Cleric, Alt is a 67 Barb does that equal Wizard??? LOL

    You probably took this:
    A kind of good tank and damage dealer
    (and be able to heal tank if you are tanking)

    Right?

    Did you really expect it would suggest you to become a cleric?

    Did you really expect it would suggest you to become a cleric?

    they must have missed the part that said IF YOU ARE TANKING. Clerics don't heal the tank if they are tanking (aside from healing themselves that is - but clerics rarely will tank from what I've seen - hard to tank and hold agro if you are having to keep healing yourself).

    The obvious choice for clerics was the one about buffs and always being wanted in squads (although Barbs are the same way)

    It's only one question. The second half could just as easily be "or not?"

    It's more of a rhetorical question than a yes/no one, but there's no real problem with it.

    Ok thanks for all the positive comments and helpful feedback.

    I am currently working on implementing some of the suggestions, however I also noticed on a testing of the system - there was an error - a whole 3 pages we're missing. I said "wtf" and I'm fixing it now.

    It should still be up and running however the updated version has not yet been released. I'll tell you when it has.

    UPDATES:

    Before entering the venomancer a new page will appear asking if you are alright with being female, not very useful in TWs, but good at solo and adept alone.

    Added a bit more about the cleric before selecting the link to go to it.

    And added "(are you tenacious and will you perservere through adversity)" too the "do you mind dying page"

    I think the questionaire is too simple that it is faster just draw a table rather than this tedious process of clicking and multiple pages.

    Hey GMs and Mods.

    I've seen this site be used to help a lot of people and at least a few people are linking to it. I'm keeping it updated and working on it.

    Though not too many people reply to it (because it doesn't ask for much input from others) it seems to have been helpful (I've had at least 50 people email me "thanks" at my tehfishey@gmail.com).

    I was wondering if you might want to sticky it. You don't have to, its just a request (and I'd be really happy if you did because it would be the first thread of mine that would have ever been stickied). I know its helped some people, just putting it out there.

    I hope this request doesn't seem too much like "look at me and my thread" but I think it could be useful in the future, and that way I wouldn't have to bump it every once in a while.
