Couple questions about archer...
Heya, i've made a high lvl bm and cleric so i'm thinking of trying archer next....
I have a few points i'd like to know about archer so thx for your replies b:thanks
1. Survivability: i was wondering how archer's survivability is so could archers 60+ or 70+ would b better post their build and current vit plz ty (plz b without barb buff) and anything else u'd like to add to support archer's survivability would b appreciated.
2. Magic mobs: i never seem to c archers have trouble with magic mobs but i wanted to ask anyway. Wiz/cleric r magic so no problem, veno obvious, and bm/barb can usually get close for mob just do melee but archer must stay far and take magic dmg. How do archer's do against magic mobs?
3. End game: i've heard that archer's aren't awesome EG also been digging around old threads about this but i'd like to ask a few points of my own involving this.
-Can archer's hold their own EG? like i've heard many things like archer's skills don't have xxx% add and such so higher u go blah blah archer's will fall behind more and such. Also heard things like every class is good EG just have to know how to play it. I don't doubt that. I'm just simply asking are archer's still a class to fear so much EG? and how do they compare with other classes would b nice too
4. Archer's dmg - i've read that tons of times "archer's have no super dmg its all in the crits" so i was wondering if some 70+ archer's could post their physical attack for me just to compare with wat i've seen on cleric and
bm.
5. Lastly i'd just like to know ur opinion on archers. Like how much you enjoy the class. If you had to reroll would u go archer again or try a different class?

I'm only level 37, but here's my $0.02:
1: Ideally, you never have to worry about your HP. Your goal is to keep enemies from reaching you in the first place, not to take their hits when they do.
2: I've never had any trouble with single magic mobs. Winged Shell can absorb the couple of hits they're likely to get off before you kill them, and the fact that they don't close to melee range means you can keep doing full damage without kiting. Low HP (I'm a pure dex archer) tends to get me killed if I get attacked by more than one though.
5. This is my first char, so I can't really compare it to other classes.0 -
i dont know much about archers but i played i and i hated it. b:angry im the type of person that if i try to pk me i 1 shot u. b:pleased

Archers pwn. It's that simple. Archers who lvl vit fail EG. Do pure dex. You get nice crit and nice damage. You get all ur hp from gears and such. I do good damage when im not critting as well. I have no problem killing most mobs and pvp is a blast. you just need to know which skills to lvl and you need to know to play the class. This class is awesome b:victoryDo The Drew b:victory0

The archer class is awesome, but we have our problems.
Am level 72-- I have 307dex 16vit and 13magic and 87str--->2756hp 1967mp with armor, but no buffs (with barb buff its somewhere around 3.4k depending on who buffs me). my phy ranged attack is either 3k to 5k or 4k to 6k i cant remember (ill re-edit when i check later). my crit is 18%
1. Being an archer isnt about taking damage. So survivorbility depends on how fast your able to counter and retaliate (run usually---your dead by the time you try to counter in most situation). If you happen to be grinding and someone attacks you, 90% of the time you will die in 1-3shots. (usually because the person is probably high level). By level 60-70+, having high dex starts to pay of because other classses with low dex oftem miss when they attack you.
2. Magic mobs is all about range. If your fighting a magic mob that can attack you from a long range (Primeval Towerling-even at max range they can hit you--really hard to kill) then its gonna be hell on HP. Other magic creatures can be easily killed till level 90s (at level 90s archers cant kill most mobs anymore-they have to party) by not letting them have a chance to hit you. By level 65+, this should be easy if you have the right weapon. But even with the right wep..they will sometimes hit you so make sure you bring some pots. I attack takes out like 20% of your hp thats not going to regenerate. grinding is really easy on every type of creatures EXCEPT those that can attack at your max range (very few though--I only know of like 2 I had to kill--except for bosses).
3. At end game archers are believed to be able to kill any class fairly easy due to high damage and high crit. Even currently when i crit someone around my level, i hit from 800 to 1500 on them. at level 70 the only class that pose a threat is veno, barb, and wiz. venos should not pose a threat, but most have some dex which gives them a good enough accuracy to hit me...and their stupid damage over time really kills when you have a archer with low hp. The best way to kill them is to quickly attack them with like 2shots and they are dead (the only time they can kill you is if tehy surprise you-countering is really hard for archers due to low hp and light armor doesnt really help). Killing a wizard is about quickness. their damage is good enough to kill you in 2-3hits so if you wanna win, take advantage of their low channeling. Barbs suck. their stupid high hp is a pain. even when i crit 1k+ on them they still have alot of hp to go. When fighting them, it is about skill level, personal skills, and genie skills. I dont think any of the people that say that archer own them really easy ever tried. I suppose we own them really easy at level 90+, but at level 60-70, they can put up a good fight even if they are lower level. their stupid stun and our skill cool down always messes everything up.
4. I have like 4k to 6k phy. ranged attack. when I attack most mobs I hit around 3k to 4k on them. with normal attack its like 3k to 4k. with skills its like 4.5k to 5.2k. with normal attack crit, its 5k to 8k. with skill crit its 5.5k to 9k. really depends on what am killing though On some mobs my level that have low mag. or low phy resistance (mostly water creatures) i can crit 10k. With adv. spark I was able to crit my highest ever damage on some hh mob....which was 14876. I only hit like 800 on hh bosses though with normal attack
5. The thing thats really good about archer is that once you get the next class of weapon you can take out every other class in that class of weapon (if you surprise them ) even if they are 9levels above you. The only problem is that archers are quite lonely. We dont get invited to hh and fbs as much as barbs, clerics, and venos. YOu have to find or create your own runs..takes forever to collect the mats for hhh armor and weps. If you can get past that, then being an archer is lots of fun. I have no regrets in rolling an archer at all. If I had to start over I would probably roll a archer again and a veno to make more money for my archer. Archers are HEavy POT BLOWERS. the only problem with low vit and low mag is that you regeneration during meditation is like 5. this becomes a problem by level 50+. You cant do NOTTING..not even grind...without pots by level 70. most barbs dont even carry around pots -.- but have high repair bills
Archers are able to take advantage of every mob and every class in the air, land, and water. which gives ur crazy power. We have mag and phy skills and ranged and melee skills. This is a major advantage of archers.
Btw if you decide to roll a archer...dont roll a hybrid or vit build roll a pure dex build. the whole hp thing can be easily over come in time and investing in armor that gives alot of sockets and hp. If you try hard enough you can get your hp to about the same as a blademaster without putting any points into vit. dex is really important because it plays a maor roll in pvp. with it youll be able to evade most and hit ALOT in pvp. this starts to show by the time you hit 65+0 -

9x archers kill fine in pve. the only time you'll have trouble is in old unicorn forest... where your charm will tick every 4-5 mobs if you take them one on one. in pvp archers do lack a bit. since in prolonged pvp archers aren't really going to have enough chi to triple spark. the average damage for an archer on light targerts is around 1k. and more often then not, we'll have a hard time solo killing a high profile target... even when we're crit 2-3k every other shot. on the other hand, if you manage to pull off 1 of the 2 long channel skills, you can crit a light up to 5k+ and thats usually enough to kill through charm.1. If I kill you; do something about it yourself, don't go complaining to my wife.

I can only coment on PvE. But thats a part of game too.
1. You may start to hate TT. Really, I take agro way too much and to die there is easy as hell. I have 2,3k hp, without HP helmet, pure archer with 329 dex. Problems with grinding? Hell no, its easy. I grind on mobs 3 lvl higher with only frost as opener. They die before they hit me. Problems could be only if you are agroed more than 2 mobs, even then you can run (ToP and Shell if needed). STFU to guy who said Towerings are hard. They were easy, shell and normal shot them with blazzing on. No problems at all.
2. Mobs we grind on is magic, they aint problem, we also have avarage defense against magical attacks so you can tank some shots.
3. Cant coment about end game.
4.We can kill without criting. Its not that we need to crit to kill. 3264 - 4819 is my range with W&C. My attack speed is 0,83 hits per sec. Gotta love that.
5.If I would reroll I would go wizzy. But I wont, I have wizzy alt and I must say that archers are more fun for me to play around with. Its personal preference but archers are great, we do phisical damage, we are ranged and we crit alot, not to mention some awesome skills.I kill things b:victory0 -
1. You will rarely get hit. Your HP will probably not be great, but it shouldn't matter in PvE aspect. You can survive a good 6 attacks maybe? Maybe 4 or maybe 8. Depends. You need not worry when you have shields, pots, and your infamous offensive damage. Towerling, Kugulu and other mobs with longer ranges can be very annoying. Just use your shield, preserve your other chi attacks and you should be fine. I've seen archers with 6k+ HP at 90+. I'm sure that'd help a lot in PvP.
2. Though our mag def is overrated, it has been said. No trouble.. They can take a chunk of damage from you, but I find them even easier to kill before they reach you. They will probably be your main grind source because of the speed you kill them at.
3. I can't say much there.
4. Don't think it works like that. I've noticed that we don't always get the biggest spikes, but our DPS hits the spot. My TT80's dealt damage can be from 4k to 6.5k per standard hit. I have hit 21.8k crit 2xSpark, but I know I can get higher since I got 18k unsparked. The DPS is crazy. You must have seen how easy most archers can pull agro?
5. Hit and miss. Personally I have chosen the wrong class. It was only supposed to be a new experience. I do enjoy it sometimes. I envy being as useful as a barb or a cleric, or being able to solo instances higher than fb39. I envy having to sit there and do nothing occasionally as a DD. I personally should have rerolled earlier and I'm not far from quitting because I'm not patient with MMOs. It is still a good class to try.0 -

About questions 1-4 , i think you got some pretty good answers.
Regarding no. 5, Kusider covered very much what i would also say.
Thing is that I always play the archer class on any game because I like the idea and their capabilities. But if I would start now on a new character in PWI, after experiencing one I would say this :
-I would roll an archer again, only if I were on a PvP servers
-If i was to play on a PvE server, I would go Barb. The real use of achers on PvE server is just...limited.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I am newbie ( lvl 49 Archer ), but here some of my viewpoint what I find so far.
1. Survivability: Well, if you can't kill your enemy in few shots...you need to run or you dead
When I go to kill mobs, I always use things like Flourish Orb ( HP and MP recovery 50/sec for 10 min ), impossible to play without this...or you need to consume non-stop Health and Mystery Potion, but that will cost you hell much. I can kill mobs higher then me for 3-5 lvl. Archer is good for Grinding VIPIONS ( http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?p=3528331#post3528331 ) for example at my level.
Also, what I hate much is the PK guys...they usually attack me while I kill mobs or when I collect plants ( I have more then 1M coins thx to selling plants ), and then you don't have chance...because they freeze you and you dead...sometimes help stuff like Dark Green Orb ( 6000 HP over 30 sec ) for escape + fast wings.
I personally think, Archer is cool for PK, it can attack you from distance with high damage ( especially if freeze you with Aim Low ). For example I drink Effectiveness Powder for 30 sec, and my Accuracy jump + 3000, so it will hit you for sure But, I am peaceful guy, so I not plan to PK, however I plan that later to hunt only PK guys ( I collect names ) ^^
2. Magic mobs: I have problems only with those who suck your HP before they die...so need to kill them damn fast at the end of they HP or they will take yours and you can die ( use best shots at end ). Also can be problematic when put on you poison ( green skull-head ), and you forget about it after you kill it...and you can die to soon after
4. Archer's dmg: My critical is over 5000 now.

those who say that archers have no super damage are idiots
they have amazing damage. and crits just make it better
of course its not gonna be such a high hit as a wizard's or a cleric's, but you must realize that these hits don't take channeling, mana, etc. they're normal hits. however, if u DO wanna see such hits such as a wizard's or cleric's then simple : spark and deadly shot or barrage or take aim (later levels).
i had this barb and decided to go for an archer. its currently lvl 68 so im not the highest lvl but from MY experience, the more i level, the easier it gets. the damage output gets significantly higher meaning that when ur killing, you get hit less. the higher crit % also means even MORE damage. survivability.. hmmm.... its bad. but so is a cleric's and a wiz's and a veno's unless they have uber equips. even a bm has weak survive against a good wiz, cleric, veno, and also archers with their metal attacks.
the hardest class to PK would be barbs. most of the time they're not worth it imo. and watch out if they go Demon. at that point they'll be hard to kite cuz of their 9.2 m/s in tiger form and full damage. that mixed with some crit ads they get from their demon skills and we can pretty much say gg
once again, thats what i've learned from my experience. ^_^0 -
first thing you gotta know you gotta be rich to play a decent archer, your refines have to be high for your gears and your gears have to be the best that's why on the other version archers are reserved for the rich people who can afford high refines
this is all assuming you're a rich archer
pve end game
end game archers can tank anything with the right gears and refines and archers are the preferred tank in later TT stages cuz the bosses are all equipped with aoe that can knock out a whole party, the clerics can safely heal from max range and you can have more archers as DD so bosses die faster, mobs are easily dispatched before they reach u be it phys mobs or mag mobs
on a side not if you're playing archer on pve server just quit and play another class, archers were designed for one thing which is pk.
pvp end game
the only class you need to be scared from are venos cuz of their nix bleed and **** high mg dmg which is higher than mage dmg (don't believe me go to MY/CN) and the fact that they can debuff u
vs other classes
melee classes cannot kill u no matter how hard they try this is a fact even if he's at the same level and has high refines (once again this is based on high refine gears)
mages and cleric die really really fast if your wep is close to a +10 refine (2hits they should be eating the floor)
vs your own class
this is dumb that you should need to fight one, cuz this all depends on luck you can either crit/miss/hit
archers are the perfect class to do just about everything at high levels and with high refine gear.

an archer's dmg is both a good thing and bad, the reason being in most conventional TT parties the barb is the tank if you out damage the barb you're party will most likely die or just u. the good thing about it is everyone will be eating the floor with your dmg, archer def is mediocre at best that's why u compensate for it with high hp
so unless you're willing to take an archer all the way to end game don't even bother playing with one cuz its a long and hard path, but at the end if you're willing to pump into refines you'll be taking down a lot of heads and tw is just lol when u open bombard or use an aoe skill
considering archer is a dd class its always good to carry 2 genie types, a general support genie (atk spd buff, hp regen buff, invincibility buff, stuff to make up for your mediocre defenses. the 2nd genie should be your attack assist (lower enemy def, lower metal def, so on...)
end game archers must always go demon, holy archer is a dead archer cuz the skill books for holy archer are just lame except the holy st which is only applicable in TT0 -

Archers Totally suck at the first levels (Usually 1-35) but once you get their dex up with lightning attacks, they own the hell out of all classes. You just gotta play your levels right, and every 5 levels give you a 1% critical chance. I screwed up myself as a noob and gave myself MP and Vit, but luckily I caught myself, and now I still kick ****.
Here are the advantages of archers:
-Archers are very useful in squads for luring because they increase your movement speed for a certain amount of time.
-Great for luring at such a long distance.
-Usually will deal the most damage per minute at higher levels (50+) because of the ownage critical percent chance.

I'd be a bit careful there. Archers luring and Archers hitting at range is a different story.
The only way for an archer to lure succesfully is with a knockback arrow (since latest patch on genie lure). This works ok out in the open, but in instances... don't bank on it. Some in instances are not KBable.
Just thought I'd highlight that difference. Wouldn't want to drive the OP into making an Archer to lure because there was a mix up between lure and hitting at range.0 -

Make sure you KB a mob away from a group (assuming they group aggro) for it to work
And as I mentioned, don't do this in instances unless you know the mob is KBable. Otherwise this will result in a squad wipe (depending on what instance) in most occasions.

the only class you need to be scared from are venos cuz of their nix bleed and **** high mg dmg which is higher than mage dmg (don't believe me go to MY/CN) and the fact that they can debuff u
vs other classes
melee classes cannot kill u no matter how hard they try this is a fact even if he's at the same level and has high refines (once again this is based on high refine gears)
mages and cleric die really really fast if your wep is close to a +10 refine (2hits they should be eating the floor)

The archer class is awesome, but we have our problems.
Am level 72-- I have 307dex 16vit and 13magic and 87str--->2756hp 1967mp with armor, but no buffs (with barb buff its somewhere around 3.4k depending on who buffs me). my phy ranged attack is either 3k to 5k or 4k to 6k i cant remember (ill re-edit when i check later). my crit is 18%

+10 mages are incapable of killing +10 archers even with 0cast on, once an archer stuns a mage its pretty much over for the mage wanna know why cuz mages are made out of tissue paper they're so easy to rip apart
+10 mage damage has hit me for a peak of 7.4k crit, not 1hit sorry and that was in a controlled environment with only class buff and the mage had to use an ulti and ulti as most know takes a long time to cast
even 8jun mages get ripped apart by +10 archers it just takes longer to bring them down
misty Armageddon i take it is pwi version's of perdition, do u use charms i guess not, all it'll do is tick it and since you're archer with high dex he'll miss most of the time. then continue **** the other classes, ignore the melee classes since u can always kite them
in pw-my tw you will never see guilds spam mages u will see lots and lots of archers; lots and lots of bms, archers are more resilient that mages and much better killers
still dont believe me go to pw-my or ask some of the players there who have territory war vids to show u as to what real archers are capable of doing. only a high refined archer can do all what i've said, which is plentiful in pw-my
if you're wondering what the average hp of a lvl100+ pw-my archer is, it would 7.8k, the 8juns archers have 10k and that hp can only be achieved from refines, with hp buff... u do the math...0 -
i can't speak for pvp but as far as pve goes archers rock that is provided you take on mobs one by one. by level 50 your crit rate will have a noticalbe impact on your battles. some skills when they land a crit hit can half way kill a same level mob (deadly shot is a good example). as for survivability at higher levels mobs have a bit of a problem hitting you, and it gets even harder when wings of protection is cast.0
