Should There Be Limits Placed On Catshops?

I did this subject once before(but I didn't know that the developers prefer he polls, I didn't know how to do that). I'm gonna ask everyone to think very carefully. The lag in West Archo and other places known to have more catshops than necessary continues to worsen, holding back the full efficiency of the client. Do you think any one of the following limits should be placed on cat shops?
1) Specific areas placed in each large city that are the only area catshops are allowed in(no NPCs in said area)
2) A Set limit on how many catshops can be in one area
3) A level requirement placed on catshops
4) A Business Scroll you must buy from the Boutique.
5) An instance that is the only place catshops are allowed in

1) YES that would be perfect
2) Not wouldn't really help, it'd just bring lag into all the other cities
3) Deffinately not.
4) Deffinately not.
5) Sort of like #1, only better. I know when I go into Archo there are times I'm looking to buy something, and other times I'd just like to do cstone and get out. Possibly just add a link to every teleporter to bring you to the "Market," an area of catshops and business dealings. Then if someone is actually interested in buying someones ****, they knowlingly teleport themselves to do such, rather than missclick on one of the hundreds of catshops that surround NPC's.
There are also other proposals to have a toggle for hideing/showing catshops. This would be great as well, but the idea of having a whole seperate area is better entirely. Why hide the ones in one place when you just dont have to go to the place where catshops are. If they were in a whole other area, it'd make things so much easier.0 -
While I don't like catshops, I don't think placing severe restrictions on them is the answer - I'd much rather see changes to the AH. Make that a more attractive alternative and I believe it'll just naturally lead to less catshops.0

**** TO THE NO!!!
Change is bad!! We like things the way they are now!! You're just jealous!!

True, severe restrictions arent the answer. I just put those up there to fill space, I didnt even think of those 2 myself. The 5 Options sounds better than The 3 Options.
But changing AH wont solve anything. I think that its best to separate the cat shops from everything else. That way we can do our quests(especially the ones for ppl lvls 20-30) in peace and free of lag and spam[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Well, looks like we have a business man here, uses cat shops quite often. Look Kon-man, there are two sides to this. People like you are ruining West Archo and a few other places for the rest of us. For some, people like you are ruining the whole game. Some computers are older and can't handle the lag, causing d/c. That happened with my old comp. If you're worried about your business, well, people will still shop if they are looking to buy your used ****. But it's really best for everyone that the catshops be banished to their own instance.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Moving them to an area all their own is not a severe restriction. Honestly, it would improve things quite drastically. Think about it. Would you rather have catshops spread all over the server in every city, or have them ALL in one place. It's only logical.
And I agree tenfold, improvement on the auction house would make a world of benefit. But moving catshops to an area all their own would improve things as well.Konariraiden - Heavens Tear wrote: »**** TO THE NO!!!

To me, I see 5 basic problems with catshops:
1) Lag
2) Spam (mostly from sellers, but buyers too)
3) Hard to find what you're looking for - especially at a reasonable price
4) Hard to even figure out what a reasonable price is ...
5) Have to leave your computer on and game running
Lag is not a big issue for me, and Spam doesn't really bother me (half the time I ignore general/world chat even outside of town!) It's the last three that are more of an issue for me.
Moving catshops to one location solves Lag (except of course when you actually want to use a catshop ...) and possibly Spam (I expect you'll get a lot of players trying to sell without a catshop by spamming the chat ... more or less than now I'm not sure). But it'll do nothing for the last three issues.
Which is why I'd rather see improvements to the AH - do a good enough job with it, and it should help with all five issues.0 -

Quite sorry you mistake reason for rage. Your trolling can be used elsewhere.Solaere - Sanctuary wrote: »All in one place, no question ... still doesn't mean I'm in favour of that.

Honestly I never look in catshops unless what I'm looking for is not in the AH, and its always just a waste of time.
I'm just entertaining the idea of changeing things because the longer the game is running, the more people that will join, and the more lag will build up with the more people selling more things.0 -

I didn't see this when I made my post. The AH is more then enough to allow for player to player sales. A few adjustments allowing all tradeable items to be sold there and a feature allowing people to see what they are buying as it would appear worn would be all that is needed.
This would eliminate any need whatsoever for these player shops. Poof! Gone all together. No more problems from them.
Add a few new auctioneers around the cities and maybe in a few remote locations and do away with the cat shops all together.
You will also see a drastic reduction in prices for goods when people are actually competing with each other in an open market that allows for easy comparison shopping.
Do away with the Cat shops all together.0 -
How bout make the "best performance" option also toggle the visibility of cat shops.I was early taught to work as well as play,
My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday.0 -
Removing the catshops is a drastic change. But if it comes to that... I'LL HOLD A VICTORY CELEBRATION!!! THAT WILL LEAVE ROOM FOR BETTER, MORE USEFUL AND NON LAG-CAUSING CHANGES TO THE GAME![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Now that I think about it, my poll isn't defined enough. I'm going to make another poll, a better 1. Go there and vote to support our fight.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

It would be kind of nice (in my opinion/based from my experience before any of you criticise me for not citating again) if in or near the popular catshop areas there is a NPC or portal that'll quickly teleport you to the shared but large seperate simple instance where all players go to buy/sell. Having a limit to how close you can set up near another catshop would help spread them out to reduce lag there and stop others from annoyingly make their catshop too close to yours too.Non-mule characters:
