How does the elemental thingy work?

The archer monster (metal) inside of Hall of Deception hit my char veno (lvl 43) for 250+ per. That is about the same damage she receives from the lvl 47 monsters outside Sundown town (near lvl 39 FB dungeon). My char have about 2000+ metal defense. Is class (veno) weak to specific element?

    Monsters inside FBs are elite meaning they will do lot more damage and tank lot more than normal monsters outside the dungeon.
