No longer dropping items?

I saw this in the general section on a Shattered Armor post but not on the official notes posted.

"Blue names will no longer drop anything when killed by players or mobs."

Is there any truth to this?

    First, as far as I know, you never drop anything when being killed by a mob.
    Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the changes on drops and shattering
    solely effect PvP.

    Second, as long as your name is blue (on PvP-serves till Level 30, on
    PvE-servers forever if you don't change it) you are not in PK-mode,
    which means you can't PK or be PKed, so there is no chance
    that you might drop or shatter anything.

    Good to know that, it will definitely stop me from diving head first into
    dungeon mobs in the future. b:laugh

    what i heard is you will never drop items equiped while blue named but there is a 1% chance to drop items in inventory altho this has never happened to me so i actually cant say it will happen for sure

    I checked that again, no matter what colour you have chances are 1% to drop something
    from your inventory when being killed by a mob. But you can't drop anything equipped or bound.

    Can any GM explain why this patch is heavily biased towards PvE?

    It makes things better for the PvE players but worse for those that want to PvP.

    I know that more people play PvE (and hence possibly more cash sales) but there are others like me who play both and PvP is a nice change when PvE gets tedious.

    I have had this happened to me. 1% chance can be FATAL. b:shocked Yes. I had 50 Jade Powder in my interventory. It dropped. Typically did not realized, until I ran out of mp. I am a cleric, and I was killing flying mobs. So yes it's rare just be aware.
