let's talk about [fire/earth] for a moment

if possible i'd like some feedback from any high level mages out there about which fire+earth spells should be maxed.

also, how does this build play out in pvp against fire/water and water/earth mages?
i figure the physical dmg + stun would be the best pvp combo, so why do i see so many water mages.. do they have some jacked skill later on that i should know about?

    People generally consider Cryonite Dragon to be the most damaging skill a mage has. But that's not really a sufficient reason, imo. The very first water spell should be maxed no matter what kind of mage you are, since it slows quite a bit. Your heal/water shield can be upgraded at least a bit to make pve a lot easier for you. Frostblade can be useful in certain situations. Not sure about glacial snare, the 300% spike is nice but has a relatively long casting time compared to the earth spike.

    Fire spells you should get:
    Max Pyrogram, put a few levels into Dragon's Breath if you plan to join aoe parties, max will of the phoenix, useful in pve and in some cases pvp when a pet is about to ripping bite you, max blade tempest, it's the only physical attack you get.

    Earth spells:
    Max stone rain, quick spell, high damage. Max earth shield, essential for pvp as your p.def suffers. Max sandstorm, one of your fastest spells for a 300% equipment damage spike. Max force of will, seal is quite useful. Get a few levels in mountain seize, and max it eventually. Even though it's generally useless in 1 on 1, it'll be useful once you start getting into mass pvp for the group stun + high damage. Distance shrink, grab it, it's useful, not sure how much people normally level it though.

    Water spell:
    Essential Sutra. You don't need the water tree for this, but I thought I'd mention it anyway, as it reduces all channeling time to 0.

    I don't actually play a mage, so if anyone would like to correct me on any of these points, go right ahead.

    All the spells can be useful, just depends on your playstyle...

    if u plan on pvp, im not talking duels but pking etc here. Dot (damage over time) skills aren't necessary. Sandstorm is an AWESOME skill max it! Uh gush also rocks for slowing down a bms/barbs run towards u. If u mean pve the dot skills are better to start then finish with high hit moves after using gush (useful for everything) to slow them down. Aoe skills like glacial snare are good for fbs, pve, pvp EVERYTHING but be prepared for a mob in pvp and some pve circumstances all the shields (stone barrier etc) are essential for evrything! stone barrier is good to equip in pve incase those melee guys think HEY look an easy target! b:chuckle

    Hmmm

    I would say
    Water/Earth is your best bet.

    Water: Control
    Fire: Versatility
    Earth: Debuff/Damage

    Water comes with slows and heals.
    Fire comes with damage but able to be channeled in all ways (DoT, Raw, Long cast opener, AoE, Zhen, Knockback)
    Earth comes with powerful damage with great status effect add ons (Freeze, Accuracy Loss, Seal, Stun)

    And also GS is same cast time as Sandstorm, but you learn sandstorm quicker b:thanks

    Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
    So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze
