Wind Widget Speed Increase?

I'm going to get 10 gold as soon as I reach level 10, but I want to make sure I'm spending my money wisely. I was planning on getting 22 Wind Widgets with what I'll have left over, so I can speed up the Spotted Skymanta. How much does a Wind Widget speed up an Aerobeast? If it's not worth it I NEED to know before I spend my gold.

Aerogear upgrades come in burts. For the spotted manta ray, you can upgrade it 4 times.

    First Upgrade
20 wind windget - adds 0.5 m/s to your manta speed bonus making it +1.5
    Second Upgrade
    60 Windgets - adds 0.5 m/s making it +2
    Third Upgrade
    80 Windgets - adds 0.5 m/s making it +2.5
    Fourth Upgrade
    80 Windgets - adds 0.5 making it +3 m/s with +5 m/s acceleration (using fuel)

The spotted skymanta, including the cost of buying it, is the cheapest aerogear to get to max speed (the +3/+5).

Actually, all you need is 20 Widgets to do the first upgrade on a Spotted Skymanta. All upgrades will always boost current Speed and Accel Speed by +.05.

So if your current speed is +1.5 it'll become +2.0

After the first upgrade, you need 60 for the second upgrade and 80 Widgets for the last two upgrades.

    so... not worth it?

if you fly alot, it is worth it....
if you plan on keep upgrading it as you get spare money, until you max it, than its worth it...
if you are planning on selling it later and get a different one.. than it may not be worth it... but it really depends on how much you actualy fly around and if you plan on keeping it long term.

Hey SPC...you will need more than 22 wind widgets to speed up your manta. I believe its (on the low end) 40. That gives you a half point speed increase. Subsequent upgrades for additional half points of speed increase are 80 wind widgets each.

My sword started at speed 2. I got it to 3 by using 160 wind widgets.

    Thank you, :)

I would say get the 20 for your first upgrade, it does help, specialy if you mostly use your aerogear to get around.

    Who has the better sig?

    Ask yourself:
    Do I fly alot?
Do I plan on upgrading it more at a later date?
Do I plan on keeping it?

If you answer yes to any of those 3 questions, than it is worth it.

if you are a cleric/archer, you dont have much choice *but* to fly! ^_^ and trying to do WQ without an air mount would take even longer than it does now!

It works out the cheapest comparing the prices of aerogear and upgrading in gold. But personally I'd find it cheaper to sell the gold and buy ingame off the auction/catshop/another player.

For example, I bought my aerogear (one of the big fancy ones) fully upgraded and maxed for a good deal cheaper than the actual price in boutique gold...and I'd even overpaid a little cause I really wanted it. And thanks to the sales atm gold is really inflated.

I'd look into the auctions and catshops and see how much your gold would sell for before making any decisions.

    What the hell is WQ?

I don't plan on trading the Spotted Skymanta in, I like the way it looks, simple, doesn't stand out too much.its good enough for me.
