What is the "base magic damage" mentioned in nearly all attack skills?

Say, the damage dealt by a lvl 10 Glacial Snare is:

Base magic damage + 300% of weapon damage + 4880.1

So, is this base damage the magic attack given by your MAG only, nothing else considered?

    but frostblade gives a % of your base magic attacks and i dont see BMs **** everything in their path with it.
    Sins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
    Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
    ...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
    Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
    So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze

    Water element which probably doesn't even work with skills.
    Wondering how much longer these **** packs are going to be around.

    Frostblade only works on auto attacks, and blademasters use skills.

    AFAIK it gives them % of THEIR base magic attack which is pretty low; also, percentage itself isn't really great. But i've seen some archers and bms asking for highlvl frostblade so i suppose it gives something valuable.

    Incorrect, Rinnve. It's a % of caster's matk added. However, not many of them actually use autoattack so the bonus isn't that good. It's just something so they can hit a bit more while waiting for skills to cooldown 'n schtuff.

    frostblade, by the skill description, is a % of the wiz's matk. also, from my understanding, frostblade works the same way as archer's blazing arrow buff--only work on normal attacks.

    i have bm, barb and archer and from experience, bms and barbs do not benefit that much from this skill, as they are made to spam skills, which frostblade does not affect. on the other hand, you will see a significant difference in the archer's damage output with this skill on.

    BMs with no wep get no frostblade boost to their normal attacks. Check the descriptions from ecatomb and actually use the skill before you start acting like you know anything.

    equipment attack damage, last for 15 minutes."

    "Grants the biting power of cold to all allies.
    All weapons wielded by an ally are imbued

    Which is more likely: every other version gets it wrong, or only PWI has a misleading description? Occam's razor says you're a dumbass.

    Check the descriptions from ecatomb
    That IS the description from ecatomb(pwi at least)http://www.ecatomb.net/pwi/skillpwi.php as well as the ingame description
    and actually use the skill before you start acting like you know anything.
    I regularly spam this skill on all melee class during pvp/tw/grind so b:shutup
    Now maybe the in game description is wrong or maybe the skill is glitched idk cuz it does not function the way it should.Maybe it give % of their magic attack as water bonus unlike how it describes it.

    Now thats outta the way should you further feel the need to prove you at least have an e-peen you can deposit your complains in the don't give a fk section, you can find this in the upper right hand corner the red X icon.

    This is still true. You can test it yourself, even. It's not hard to do.

    Also, I said "descriptions". As in, more than one. As in, check what *all the other servers* say frostblade does. Oh gosh, they don't match the PWI description! I guess this basic skill must work differently for us than it does on any other licensed version of Perfect World.

    Or you're an idiot. One of the two.

    I use Crown of Flame as a finisher and it also involves "base magic damage" but it does not do 3k damage (which is my matk value).
    Can't just the damage be reduced because mobs have magic def?

    The mob's resistances always apply, reducing the damage you'd do. Try the skill on a horse or chicken in town instead.

    Yeah, that's right. Just test it on 1-3lvl mobs in newbie locations. When you spark or 2-spark, low-hitting skills like pyrogram or even that crown of flames are much more powerful (relatively) than SS or GS; sparked ultimates are close to unsparked due to very high fixed damage. That's because sparks increase base damage but do not affect other parts of spells.
