    Norton?
    10 char.
    I was early taught to work as well as play,
    My life has been one long, happy holiday;
    Full of work and full of play-
    I dropped the worry on the way-
    And God was good to me everyday.

    Can you not just set the antivirus program to ignore these files? So long as you're downloading the game files from an official source (here), they do not contain anything potentially harmful to your computer.

    I've had this same thing happen as well.. And the sad thing is, up until JUST this morning, it wasn't happening, even after the last update. I had logged in for a few hours this morning, now when I log in it gives me that stupid trojan horse popup...

    Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

    Just to clear something up, I've permitted all programs listed in Norton 2009's program control to go through and when creating a new rule for c:\program files\perfect world entertainment\perfect world international\config\pid.sw i get pid.sw does not exist.

    The client worked fine right until the game booted me, then this started immediately after.

    As it stands, I can still play the game just won't ever be able to update it.

    I set my Norton (which expires in a few days, and I intend to replace it with Avast) to ignore everything from the Perfect World directory. as in the entire perfect world folder and sub folders. It doesn't pop up the alert anymore, and update works again.

    I had Norton..got I hated it lol. a lot of false positives. I would suggest avast! free edition, or the free version of AVG. both are great! I myself use AVG and absolutly love it =]

    This is NOT representative of the views of PWE.

    This is my personal opinion.

    I dislike Norton from a gamer and tech suport position because over the years, it has caused more issues with games and making systems non-functional then other similar level AV programs. If your program has to have its own program to THEN uninstall itself, because the regular uninstall process doesn't really uninstall it, then you have some issues with your program.

    Adobe is bad with this too in regards to Flash and other apps of theirs.

    Just be careful seeing that what gets flagged is a legit issue, or a false positive.
