You're splitting hairs. It's not about eliminating any distinction. The truth is that you don't know which is an enemy or a friend so you must choose to treat all people as one or the other. You have obviously made your choice. I have made mine.

PS: Your bluff at being better just makes you lame.

In this very last patch there is hidden content update for the expansion that's coming out soon. You don't hear them crowing about it in the announcement because they'll do that when everything's done. In the meantime, they are earning their paychecks (funded by the Cash Shop) by attending to our concerns in the forums, answering support tickets, fixing the bugs that are revealed, and developing new content. Like the new expansion, which will be the third one to come out in roughly 12 months.

Pay to Play often doesn't have that many expansions. And it certaining isn't free - you have to pay your subscription fee, the money you paid for the first disk, AND the money you pay for the expansion disk.

Here, you get all that for free. And it's because people buy from the Cash Shop. Bottom line is, PWE is a business. And they have bills to pay. You don't have to be the one to help them pay them but I'm quite glad for the people who do :)

Ah, yes, the knives and vitriol finally come out. b:laugh

I know that there's a shifting view in society that is attempting to erase any distinction between "opponent" and "enemy", or "competitor" and "oppressor". It's why children are now often taught to not keep score in sports, or play any playground games that might divide players into "winners" or "losers".

I guess I'm just old fashioned.

Say what???? b:shocked Parents are teaching their kids not to be a winner?? You always play to win or stay on the sidelines watching. Mind you we don't keep score in hockey at work because it usually leads to fights if the game is close.

Are we still on the origianal topic because I thuoght we were able to derail this about 3 pages ago.

I tell my soccer team I play with that it does not matter if you are winning 10-1 you keep playing your best until the game is over. Do not pity your opponent and hold back against them. Sorry went a bit over board there. b:surrender

The point isn't to win, its to have fun. **** winning/losing, that's irrelevant. Most people cheat to win anyway.

To summarize, an MMO has 3 choices on how to do things.

There is at least another option : free to play funded by player donations.

There is at least one game that run with this economic model.

Zen purchasing is like donations, considering that you can grind for in game money to buy boutique items

yes, and I think this is one of the major point explaining the success of PW compared to many others F2P games where you cannot buy cash shop currency with game coins. Or even cannot resell to other players cash shop items...

Another big point in favor of PWI is the interraction of employees with the customers. I seldom saw a game forum with so much involvement by Gms/admins. This give us the feeling we are at least listened to.

I guess we were discussing the player side of "Sale or Greed." You're right, though. It was off topic. It's my bad for making the first post about it.

On topic: I don't see what the complaint about a sale is all about. Sales are a normal part of business. I do believe that rare items should stay rare or simply be changed to normal cash shop stuff. I've also wondered why the new mounts are all rares with the same selection offered in the shop. What's the reason for that? People should be able to purchase with more variety. That's like offering no new fashion stuff. I can understand the frustration. Anyway, that's my two cents.

I think the WHOLE of the matter was lost in the mix. I like CS items, I like that they have NEW items. I do not like when they flood them in at once. Makes it unbalanced. Also I have a Umm complaint, Why have new content new CS items. BUT NO DAMN IN GAME EVENTS OTHER THEN GM MADE UP ONE'S?? Do I want some of the new items? Not really, Does johnny or amy want it? Maybe. There call. But this game and many others live and die by there customers and many customers are not happy. There are many reasons they are unhappy. I am unhappy from lack of GM involvement in known hackers and botters not being dealt with. Lack of enjoyable events. And lastly the new content or items they bring out causing memory leaks and simple fixes not even done. ( like a toggle to show genies or not would solve about 30% of the memory leaks).

    1. I agree.
    2. People have always complained about these things with unanimous agreement.
    3. These issues have never changed even slightly.

I'm going to have to disagree about GMs addressing reported players. We don't ban for a first offense, so we rely on players to report repeat offenders.

Most awesome. This is the first ever MMO I've played that was F2P that did this. PPL don't realize how lucky they are to buy CS items in game. Not to mention in the others you couldn't even TRADE the items, let alone sell them. Rock ON PWI!!!

Then your system is flawed. I know you guys work hard and this is sort of ninjaing this post. BUT why in the hell would you give anyone a chance who hacks and cheats? Your ToS is clear, kick em. If a new players reads and sees that botter and hackers and cheats are kicked he is less likely to do so himself. He is also more likely to stay in a community that CARES wth is going on, then leave cause a hand full of people ruin the whole game for everyone. And thus they feel they also have to cheat. Just look at major league baseball. Anyway Peace bro, I know you guys care and are doing your best. But your company and other FTP companys need to learn that you have the power to turn a good game into a great one, A great game into the best game and also the power to turn a Great game into a POS.

I'd agree, doesn't seem like a real functional policy. I worked as mod for an F2P (there was an option to purchase stronger weapons, a house, etc.) single player game for quite a while, where hacking (which only benefited you, as there was no PvP aspect) was punished swiftly on the first offense with a permanent ban... b:bye

    People didn't **** very much.

You guys are nitpicking spoons words. That wasn't set in stone as what they do. But could you imagine someone who curses (uses vulgar language) which is against TOS getting a perm ban? I mean come on that would just be ludicrous. Or someone who uses the glitches to PK in cube to get perm ban? There is a loophole there where it is up to their discretion.

I don't believe he meant that NO ONE gets banned on first offense. I think what he really meant was that depending on your crime usually a perm ban isn't the first route they take.

I would assume that someone who actually hacks the system or blatantly taunts the rules would be perm banned first time.... I would hope anyways.

Spoons pls confirm this as correct, as I would also hate to think that there is one free pass to really do anything you want here before you are banned.

I never said such a ludicrous thing.

It was specifically stated by heavenlee that known hackers and botters are not banned; this isn't a secret.

Spoons replied saying that they don't ban anyone on the first offense.

Therefore giving people a free pass to do whatever they want outside of TOS until at least the first time they're caught, where theres a good chance they wouldn't have done anything if punishment was more severe first time round.
Quit 100%...and surprised my forum account wasn't banned...yet

    Cash shop users?

I saw some players bot, reported them, saw them banned for a few days and then they came back botting again on the same spot. More than once.

Since then, I simply stopped reporting botters, it's a waste of time.

temp bans are more common than you guys think, even blizzard only gives 48 hr bans on bots on wow for 1st time offenders. either way its better than stupid gravity interactive's policy on botting. if there is ONE botter caught in your guild, they ban the entire guild on grounds of 'benefitting from 3rd party programs.'

i would rather see a bot temp banned hoping theyll get the message, rather than entire groups of people banned for it.

IMO people will never be happy when they release stuff. When they dont realease stuff people complain. When they actually release stuff and even cut down prices and have a zhen sale people still complain. So wat exactly do u want the DEVs to do?

Well no matter what people think gold prices are at a crazy high of 170k each and rising... sooo much for the discount items ehh?? These sales have completely changed everything. but just remember next time u buy gold for 170k or whatever it has risen to that PWI needs money and they have every right to jerk around with the community.

well in real life sales are required to keep the economy incheck, sales keep prices lower and create competition, soo ur example proves nothing.
