Which Skills would be useful for a veno for herself and for squad...Plz list which skill you got and why. Which would be good Pounce, Bash, or Roar. I want to be a veno that would be accepted in TTs and RBs and also want to be an independent that could grind alone. Some say hercs need this skill or that skill to take aggro back incase the aggro is taken. But i am confused due to so many suggestions. Help me PLz

I use bash, simply because it makes life easier. Bash generates way more aggro than pounce does, and makes the herc much better as a grinding pet. This isn't to say pounce is a bad skill, but I think bash works much better on the herc. Pounce is more of a PvP oriented skill.
If you want to know the reasons for keeping pounce, wait until tweakz finds this thread lol. b:laugh
As for Roar, it is only useful when a party member has accidentally taken aggro, as it resets aggro to a random level. Roar does not generate aggro, and therefore is not a spammable skill, like bash is. If you want to be able to take and maintain aggro on your herc, the best skill to get IMO is bash.0 -
bash's innate aggresion + ability to be casted more for better damage makes it the optimal skill to use, flesh ream is better left for phoenixes.
roar is a waste of money, better if only used on a golem or something if you accidently crit or something dont use it.
pounce... is just a poor skill in general for PVE. it has way too long of a cool down (30seconds) for it to be of any use in holding aggro, as just punching mobs isnt enough to keep aggro.0 -
Bash is better for building aggro. Roar is for taking back aggro when someone steals it. Pounce doesn't work on bosses (at least I've never noticed landing a stun on a boss), but it's better against regular and elite mobs.
For solo you can just leave the standard skills. Pounce comes in very handy against elite mobs in dungeons.
In a party, if your pet is tanking melee bosses, the herc is pretty capable at holding aggro thanks to reflect. Bash will generate more aggro than pounce, but I don't think it will make much difference.
Against ranged bosses your herc will lose aggro more easily due lack of damage reflect, so in this case you might need roar or bash.
Imo just keep pounce. It's a hard skill to come by and more usefull than bash or roar.0 -
pounce is more useful in PVP, and reflect is not nearly enough to hold aggro on normal mobs outside FBs/TT, they dont hit hard enough. but herc isnt a pvp pet, so its better to rid of it for:
a. blessing of the pack for wb tanking
b. bash for better aggro when boss tanking.0 -
TY all very much just got my Herc today and going to get bash. b:victory0

Typical World Bosses have way more pAtk than mAtk, so a ranged pet that can avoid the pAtk is more suitable than a herc for WB tanking. Blessing would be overkill on a Herc as it has a lot of HP already. Unless you have a lot of opportunity to use the aid of other venos to help heal, I don't *think it would be worth wasting this skill on a Herc.
As mentioned earlier, Reflect does a good job helping to hold aggro on most bosses and elite mobs. Exceptions would be on bosses and mobs that don't melee like Hercule Trioc (FB39) and Stygean Quartermaster (FB79). Baby Herc is does not make an awesome grinding pet. You can do better grinding without.
People forget that pounce doesn't just stun. It also speeds up atk rate:Have a 80% chance to stun enemy for 3 secs. Increase attack rate by 25% for 15 secs if enemy is stunned.
-May be useful on elite mobs when soloing instances.
It's pretty careless to just casually suggest trashing an extremely rare skill (I've never even seen it available) only to replace it with another very rare skill (I've never even seen). I would think if you wanted to do something like that, you'd come up with it as a solution for yourself.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0 -
Tanking world boss with herc?b:embarrass0

Don't forget, part of killing an elite mob is reaching it. While Pounce would be better on the elite itself because as you mentioned, Reflect is the majority of your aggro then, reflect isn't nearly as good on the clear and neither is pounce due to the cooldown time. So whatever gain you get on the elite itself due to Pounce is going to be lost on the clear unless you decide to not use the herc in which case you're still at a disadvantage.0 -

When I saw that I never bothered trying out the marksman. So does the marksman actually stay out of melee range, or does that only work with mobs that have ranged attacks as well?0 -

using a 'ranged pet' would be stupid, not all of them use a single target magic at a range, some use AOEs which is asking for death.
it also makes soloing ancient evil in 2-3 possible, among many other TT bosses thought to be too much for herc.0 -
If you really wanted to make a business of it, you could always get two hercs, one with Blessing and one with Bash. b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

So if you have both a phoenix and herc, putting Blessing instead of Bash on the herc is a viable strategy IMHO. One of the venos in my faction has done just that. The hard part is going to be getting your hands on a Blessing scroll IMHO. I've only ever seen one for sale, and it was gone within 5 minutes.0 -

why do you think that roar work that way? :O0 -

For most of those, the regular and reflect damage should be enough to hold aggro. In the cases where they're not, a regular pet like a golem or cub should be able to tank the mobs.

What I meant is bash on one herc for better tanking of FB bosses (leveled bosses) and blessing on the other herc for WB tanking. =pTearvalerin - Sanctuary wrote: »lol i should buy a second phoenix with bash and flesh ream.. god thatd be scary.
I believe Desiree from HL has two nixes =p[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
