Trying to Kill Darkbreed Wolfkin

Hey, I've been on this quest for a while now. It's the "Daisy and Dandelion" quest where I have to find a 'still-beating Darkbreed Wolfkin heart' for the Apothecary in Broken Bridge Village. But I keep dying. I'm level 20. Should I level up and then kill some more Darkbreed Wolfkin? I don't know what to do. And my pet keeps dying too, which is bad because every time it dies it looses some loyalty towards me. Please help me here. Thanks!

Honest answer? Get 3-5 more levels before trying to fight them. And you might want to have heavy armor on.

The Darkbreed Wolfkin are elite mobs, which means they are tougher than their level suggests. Plus, they have group aggro. Which means you will almost never be fighting just one - you'll be fighting 2-4 or even 6 at a time.

Just one DB Wolf would be enough to kill virtually any level 20 trying to face them alone. A Barbarian in tiger form MIGHT stand a chance, but only of surviving. When I was questing them with my Wizard a while back, a Tigerform Barb had been running back and forth for ages trying to shake 6 off of his tail. He'd disappear off the screen, then eventually come back, unable toutrun them, unable to kill them. But he'd gotten in enough hits on them over time that, when I peeled one off and killed it, the credit didn't come to me. My husband and I invited him to our squad and the three of us were able to finish them off after that.

But it was still dangerous with three mid 2x's - a Tank barb, a Blademaster, and a DD wizard. I did a lot of healing for the two of them, because even the barb was getting his HP munched.

So... you should level up more. Or form a squad with your faction members or people in the area trying to do the quest. I was able to solo a "kill 5 DB Wolves" quest on my level 23 veno, but it wasn't easy. A lot of running involved, and a few pet resurrections. Use your best tank pet, alternated with your best heavy-hitting pet. Whatever it is needs to have GREAT pdef.

I could kill darkbreed wolfkins when I was level 20, using my rhino (for tanking -- threaten really helps) and cactus (for luring, so my tank starts out uninjured and so I only fight one monster). But I had really really good magic rings which probably was a crucial factor (they help when you are healing).

If you can not solo them, and you do not want to be waiting until later, you could ask for help from someone a few levels up?

P.S. if you need to know how to lure:

You send your pet in to attack one monster. Everything nearby will want to be attacking your pet when you do this. Do NOT heal your pet or attack or anything. When you see some damage, unsummon your pet and whichever monster your pet was attacking will now want to attack you. Everything else will just ignore you. You need to summon your tanking pet and have it attack before you get hit (or, before you die). You can run away when your luring pet attacks but do not run too far or your pet will teleport to you and everything will come after you. (Also, when fighting bosses, always deal with their assistants first or they will follow the boss when you lure him.) If you are using a cactus, right click on its first skill so it will not use any skills -- if you let it attack without using its offesnive skills (which are all melee range skills), your cactus will attack from range which should help it survive long enough to get your target's attention.

hang around out of aggro range of where they are, wait for there to be one of them, and then run by it and down towards the river, so you won't add another one while fighting. You want to be outside of their spawn area, one adding is a bad thing.

If you get more than one, keep running into the river, they will go home.

    Use the technique described here.

This way you can pull just one mob at a time, which you should be able to handle.

(I am having problems editing my post, but I wanted to add one other comment):

If you do decided to solo them and you are still level 20, you should solo them inside the cave (or right beside the cave). If your tanking pet dies or something else bad happens, you can leave and save your life. (Or, if you are outside, you can run inside.)

I think the run-to-the-river technique might be a little safer than running into the cave. I've seen mobs follow people into the FB caves XD

Oh! I did not actually try running into cave -- I only used running out of cave (which worked fine).

Thank you, for letting me know about this issue!

2 Pets, one to lure and one to fight. You might be best getting a crystaline or volcanic magmite in order to tank safely, though personally I managed perfectly ok solo'ing the quest on lv20 with my sharptooth wolfing.

Using the lure technique (sending your pet in, hitting one mob, returning pet to bag and bringing out your tank to battle the agro that runs over to you) pretty much ensures you'll only have to fight one at a time.

Running into or out of the fb cave is a perfectly safe and extremely useful method of escaping wolfkins if you get swarmed.

Remember to make sure heal is leveled as high as it can go and to spam it and you'll have no trouble whatsoever.
