soloing

I am (lvl20 archer) at the cave of the viscious quest (rockhide undine I think).

I have a decent stick and skills. I think I have decent armor - and I am buffing (crafted drugs and higher damage shafts).

I cant imaging killing that undine or the lithic scorpion with it. They just brush me aside.

Its not realistic to solo this game is it.

    It is. But the fb specifically states: GATHER A GROUP OF FRIENDS TO DO THIS.

    You're not meant to realistically solo the fb at that particular level (except venos >_>)

    The dungeon mobs are pretty strong when you try to kill them at similar levels. You'll have a lot of trouble soloing dungeons as an archer anyways, mostly because of reduced bow damage at close range and low defense from light armor (if you're using it).

    If you want to solo things like FB's and elite mobs, archers arent the best choice unless you vastly outlevel your target.

    Inside instances, you will need a squad as an archer.
    Outside however, you will be strong solo class after you get your fb19 weapon.

    Thanks for the responses. Mid 600's just isnt enough punch. The real killer is I lose my chi when I enter - I had planned a frost stun followed by successive knock backs.

    Ah well.

    I'll try a veno or some tank or other. :)

    Or get a party to run through there with you. A lot of higher levels would kill to do an FB19. XD

    ...Relax. He didn't know you can't solo the mobs in the FB. What does your opinion on archers have to do with this.

    I dont know what an "FB" is - I was sent there by the Priest.

    I have an archer, cleric, veno, barb, blade, wizard. I just hit this first with the archer.


    I keep hoping to find a game like this that is skill based rather than gear based. I know it isnt an FPS ... I would like a hybrid. Say PWI + Q3. :) Its fun though. (My background is competative shooters online on ladders). I feel naked without a rail gun or asmd and the ability to move.

    It's not possible to solo the entire game. Else it wouldn't be called a MMORPG.

    Call to duty quests (also called FB by the players) aren't meant to be solo'd, the quest description states explicitly that you should gather a group of friends for that quest.
    What you can do now is to either skip that quest, keep it until you're lvl 40+ and then try to solo it, or find some players who help you. I'm sure there are many willing to help you.
    There will be more quests in the future that can't be completed alone, basically these are all Challenge or Hero type quests which usually want you to kill extra strong mobs/bosses. You can see the type of a quest in the quest window. (press Q)

    If you want to solo a lot of stuff you can play a Venomancer, they're pretty good for soloing because they're using pets that can tank and usually do most of the work for you. xD Don't think you can solo everything with them though, they're not invincible either. b:chuckle

    - -; Don't wait until 40+ to do the quest. It will have expired by that point.

    Most quests are only available to do for rewards for 5-10 levels after you first get them. FBs (Call to Duty) last about 10 levels. Because you'll get another FB at level 29, you should do your FB19 by level 28 just to be safe. Especially since you'll get a nice weapon that's most useful from 2x - mid 3x.

    FB, aka "Fuben" (Chinese for Dungeon) is the Call to Duty. They are meant to be done in a squad. You'll want to find a Barbarian or a Blademaster to "tank" - they'll take the lead and get the attention of as many monsters as possible, taking the damage from them. Archer, Wizard, and Veno for damage dealing on the mobs once the Barb has their attention. And a Cleric to keep the barb and other players healed. A squad has up to 6 people - you can bring 5, and must be the leader yourself. If they are 3x or 4x would be best - it'll take about 20 minutes to do. If you have all 6 people at 2x, it'll take around an hour or longer.

    Kill all the mobs on your quest list before engaging the final boss. This is the only way to complete the quest properly to get your reward when you go back to town. You should also have a tablet in your inventory, which you get from another "quest" from the NPC. That goes in the pillar at the start of the dungeon, or by the boss. When the boss dies it gives everyone a nice chunk of EXP. The mobs themselves give hardly any exp.

    The rest of the game is usually solo-able. It's just the Call to Duty Dungeons and some Bosses out on the field that give certain classes trouble. Every class needs a squad to complete their Dungeon at the level they receive it.

    Why on earth would anyone play an MMO in order to solo it? It baffles me. O_o mmo, as in multiplayer. Buy a console of preference, buy yourself a few RPG's and there you go, hours of no-problem happy solo-gaming.
