Many failed attempts at taming an animal?

I'm a level 8 Venomancer, and I've been sitting here for five minutes or longer, trying to tame a level 3 Heptastral Beetle King, and I've failed consistently.

Is it always like this when trying to tame a pet?

    You have to hit the mob, until it has around 40% or less health left, for tame to be successful. The lower the health, the higher the success rate.

    It is also a good idea to wait a few lvls untill you can lvl up the skill.
    Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.

    When taming, you need to consider a couple of things;

    *Is the mob istelf tameable?
    Not every mob is. When you select it and the info bar pops up, it should have either a little green, red or yellow alien looking symbol on the bottom left. Green means you can tame it, yellow means you're the same level as it, the chance isn't as good at taming it. Red means you're not yet high levelled enough to tame it.
    No symbol means the mob isn't tameable at all.

    *Is it's HP bar full?
    You will have a much harder time trying to tame it with a full HP bar. Try bringing it's HP down under 30%, making sure your pet wont kill it during your casting time.

    *Is your skill level low?
    Each time you upgrade your tame skill level the chance will increase, however if you follow the HP rule, you shouldn't have much trouble taming.
