Health and Mana bar

I have a problem with massive lagg whenever I play PWI on my laptop (Vista).
The game runs smooth tho, when I switch of HUD (Heads Up Display) by pressing Alt + H, but that makes surviving in fights very hard =/
I almost found a way to solve that. Sometime when I was trying to ajust the graphics, a small red line/bar apeard above my Barbarians (Haggisn) head. Later I found out that it indicated my health/hp.
I have no idea how I got that bar above my head, but now I pressed "Defult" on the Ul part of system settings and it disapeard.
If anyone know how to get a bar indicating Health and Mana without HUD please tell me.

    i think in the upper left corner of your screen, where your bars are, you just click where it says HP or MP or EXP to show the bars.
