Because you said you wanted to see it, here he is, my latest creation, the Heavy Armor Wizard.

I gotta say, he's a lot more fun than I thought he'd be. Finding new tactics for a caster class has really intrigued me. Like fighting Withered Dryad. His magic HURT. So, I got in his Melee range and cast at him while being whacked on. The irony....

He's only level 20, yes, this photo is from before my FB19 run, but I think he might turn out to be quite handy for a lot of things. I can choose to kite, or not to kite, for instance. And whacking on things with a giant sledgehammer means Increased Magic Resist mobs are a joke.

    Oh, I'm quite aware of it. I'm just showing Kittennice, because she asked. I'm well aware that Heavy has been bandied about for all 3 caster classes, and the general consensus is that it really only makes sense on a Veno due to Fox Form.

    Check out my HA Cleric!!! Nothing like a little Dual Sword action :) I got him to lvl 34 I think.

    Theres a heavy armour mage on Harshlands called MD he is like level 89 or something. Ya, the build fails.

    same goes for all heavy armor casters :P. you shouldve looked for that wizard with the +11 mirage sword + heavy armor, isala, shes on our server

    I'm glad you're having fun with it. Tell me how it goes in higher levels. Oh and the vit can help for hard hitting magic (If you want to put in vit).

    I find it funny how people will haze you for doing something different. Who frelling cares if "the build fails" or whatever, all that matters is that the person creating the character IS HAVING FUN. Once the GAME becomes a DUTY to be the strongest, it's time to stop and step outside for some fresh air, because something's wrong.

    So for those that would tear down another for not playing the game the "standardized" way, shut your mouth and get out. Your kind is what turns a fun game into a frelling day-job.

    I don't really take offense to others comments about the build being a "fail" because in reality it is a fail for the level the character is seen at by the user.

    I chose to look at a bit different when I was playing my HA Cleric. I may have been level 34 by level but I was more on even ground for a level 28 cleric. Knowing this that is how I saw my character. So even though my level was higher I really only invisioned him at lvl 28 that was able to look so much cooler than the rest at that level 28 and was more versatile.

    It may sound silly how I played it but at that time I really really enjoyed played my HA Cleric.

    I got some good positive comments when people asked what Class I was and I told them that I was a "Paladin".

    well when you look at it, it may be novelty/fun, but if it cant perform its standard duty in a party its considered fail by the general public.

    while some people might call me odd for a high vit arcane build, it works and i have fun.(theres only 1 more ive met on the server around my level)

    some might call kittenice and isalas builds weird, but they have fun, and works for them

    it only fails to me if it cant function itself with practicality...

    Totally on the same page b:victory So even though I could not perform equally to my counterparts at lvl 34 I knew I was in the public eye a fail build, I enjoyed ignoring the lvl that I was shown at and played as a character at a lower level.

    Basically I hung out with slightly lower levels.

    I was thinking about making "goofy" build alts but it doesn't work as well in this game as a game named.. well I won't say. It was setup so Mage-type class could only wear cloth but it was great to create a Mage that could solo this game's equivalent of a World Boss and wreck pvp like crazy because everyone expected a cloth-wearer to be squishy. I stopped playing that game though because speed hackers were unbanned for "backroom" deals like buy $100 in cash shop for unban - penalty enforcement was a joke. In that game, the value in place of VIT covered Max HP, HP Recovery Rate, Defense Rating, Agro Generation; here I think Vit only covers Max HP so making a VIT Wizard would be pointless (also this game has stat/lvl requirements for gear instead of class/lvl) because one would die in 6 hits in of 2 rather than being a crazy tank.

    How about a LA/Robe hybrid BM?

    On a side note, I have had the privilege of watching a robe barb in action. He... died really really fast. b:laugh

    Sanc's been having way too many robe barb/archers/BMs lately.

    FYI, OP's screenshots are a "no compromise" heavy wiz build. Mag is 3x level so he can wield the best magic weapon for his level. Str is very close to 2.5x and dex 0.5x level so he can wear the best heavy armor for his level. You have to make up a deficit of 1 stat point per level with +stat equipment to pull this off.

    In terms of damage, it's about 70%-80% the mag attack of a full-mag build. If you factor in fixed spell damage, it's probably closer to 80%, so you're not trading off a whole lot to be able to wear heavy. The real pain is in the cost of the +stat equipment.

    Now that would be interesting to see.....I can't imagine how far back some of your armour would be since you would have to spread out your stats evenly to be able to wear peices from each group.

    I would say no matter what that your idea would be the ultimate fail design....We could label you as the PW jester since people would not take you seriously.
