Ok well the title says it all. I want to know which is a better class all around. Barbs are good at tanking and are decent at damage dealing. BMs are good at damage dealing and are secondary tankers. I like dealing damage, but from every video i have seen it looks like the barbs prevail in PVP against BMs. Please give me your thoughts and some reasons why :D thanks! b:pleased b:thanks

Barbs are always needed, so if you don't mind people begging you for help..
BM's are never needed, so if you want to struggle to get into squads...
Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.

    Fail lol >.>

Immortal...Just make both characters, lvl them to lvl20 or so (its very easy) and find out wich one you like playing more. DONT get a character because someone said so, or because you read something in forums. All classes in PWI are pretty much balanced, so find out what suits your playstyle b:victory

BMs are the most useles class. they arent good as tanks(maybe they can tank low lvl bosses but thats all) and same for dding.
Every1 will take archers or wizards for dd rather than bms so u ll have hard time finding squads especially when tt starts( exept if ur subber)
BTW i dont see their use in this game( exept weak melee dd)
    THE GAME IS DEAD b:byeb:byeb:bye

    No class is useless.
U can replace nearly every class... (f.e. 2-3, Wizzi can replace 2nd cleric b:chuckle)

I talk about HA BMs and TT Astralwalker isnt Low Lv Boss in my opinion.

"I guess you havent gone to a territory war yet. BM roar of pride, heavens flame, etc."

In TW most of the time i was not killed by Archer/Wizzi but from BM...
(BM Stune... i can say already bb)
In last TW i had a stalker BM... >_>

I do agree BM's are very good in TW, and RB, i wouldnt go rb without bm.
but tbh, TT atsralwaker hit so low that its laughable btw, should count as low lvl boss, and ofc a bm can tank that.
that to say I gave up my BM on heavens tear, when this server started, I don't regret i took barb instead.

    btw
Immortal, just my opinion, try the clas urself u can't judge by other ppl's coments
I'm sorry for misspelling / mistyping and grammar b:surrender

BMs useless... when an archer or a Wiz... yeah, those cool pure DD classes who like to steal aggro all around guess who saves the **** of all party stunning?

Don't get me wrong, Archers and Wizzies r great classes, but all have our role on PW, u cant call a certain class "useless" cause you dont like it. It shows u have a lot to learn about squads.

Of course there r Bms who forget their role and r useless... and there r a lot... u can bet on it >.<

It only took two replies for the right answer to emerge.

Just to clear up a couple of things, though:

BMs are one of the most misunderstood classes I've ever seen. Even within the BM sub-forum, there is perpetually a debate about which type of BM is "best" and which types of weapons "fail." Basically, BM is a class with a lot of flexibility. There is a lot of room to make your character unique and that comes with a lot of potential to make bad investments. But, what may seem bad/weak to one person may be exactly what another liked about the class. If thinking for yourself about how to develop your character makes your head hurt, don't play a BM (be an archer).

BM's role in squads is to give the squad the flexibility to do something other than tank/IH until dead. But, getting the value of an alt-tank requires some good gameplay by the BM and the rest of the squad. Most people are not that sophisticated and won't venture away from an obvious simple solution (barb/cleric or herc) that works most of the time. Then again, sometimes clever people work out a way to use a BM that becomes part of the established dogma (rebirth, cough cough).

On the point about who does better 1-on-1 in PvP, this is not the kind of thing on which to decide a character class. If you enjoy playing a class, you will find ways to enjoy/survive PvP. There will be things/classes that bug you and things you find you are uniquely situated to do. And, it will all depend on situations that vary so much it is not even worth worrying over. For instance, one of my favorite TW experiences with a BM was when our opponent was on the ropes and their infamous PK-leading barb tried to break out with a catapult. Two other BMs and I chased him down and kept him stunned while we basically ate his charm. It was delicious.
    "?" IS my avatar.

Thanks for the input guys, both classes do seem to be equal. The only thing that makes me want to chose a barb is the high hp, and the two skills that i think are pro :O, Armageddon and Slam (TBH i'm thinking BM :D). If anyone else has anything to say that would be great :).

90 per cent or even more of pwi bosses are imune to stun.... lol

Ok here is my two cents...

I have a 100 barb, slam is not that great.... its bad on squads(cause mobs will knock back not leting dds do they jobs).

With good hp armaggedon is great...

So barb is very important at low mid levels..

At high end game not so much...

Basicly its a meat shield your job is to hold agro/tank from bosses/mobs, to lead your squad barb are always the first to attck a mob(or should be lol)

On pvp they are not bad hard to kill, though they miss a lot....

On questing/solo very bad at start, low dmg, low attack rate it sucks, but once u reach 70 with double dmg axes you will notice a big upgrade and you finally see the true power of it..
At 90+ you can hold 20 mobs on you and kill them all without dying...

As for bms well im not a pro but they are very versatil(i thik thsi is the right word) multiple weapon, class.......
They are the stunmans on squads, they DD better than barbs and are better on solo quest....

They have exelente end game(if you go fists and -int) if you are a rich player....

Dont know much about bms just at low lvs you should be an axe bm due to the amazing stuns they axe wich are exelent to do you bhs quests..

    Hope it helpsb:victory

I believe that slam is for buying time when you are tanking dozens of monsters and you are in a marginal situation, like your cleric needs some time to get blue bubble up something. You might also use it to push monsters into a static AoE or to move the target of an archer's AoE or to keep a lightweight from pulling too much aggro. If you are not pushing your limits you might never encounter those kinds of situations, and if you do not talk with your teammates about the issues they face you might never think to use it for some of these circumstances.

Or, it can be useful if you are solo AoEing...
