Have you checked your drivers? Are they up to date?

I had a similar problem, try this :

    Start>Run>dxdiag
Click on "display", then in the part "DirectX Features" try to enable DirectDraw, Direct3D and AGP Texture acceleration.

It worked for me, but I can't guarantee it will the same for you because in my error was readable the word "DirectX".

    Good luck.

Thanks, I tried this but I cannot enable the Direct3D feature as it says:
Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.

I still cannot access the game :(

I'm going to need some more information from you. Go to Start, click on Run (or Search if using Vista), and type in dxdiag and press enter.

Click on the Display tab, and then post here everything in the Device and Drivers boxes:

Unfortunately, while Matrox makes phenomenal chipsets for 2D graphics, they don't have any 3D support at all, which is required to play the game. You'll have to upgrade to a better video card if you want to play.

I have the same error message, but I noticed something. On the minimum requirements, it says for Vista, there should be 128MB of RAM. I used to have XP and the min. requirement for that was 64MB. So it worked fine till one day a repair man installed Vista. So my Pent. 4 still has 64MB. If that's the problem, how can I fix it? Do I have to buy something to get it at least to 128MB? Cuz I'm clueless about what graphic cards are appropriate for my comp. I really want to play asap. b:cry

You can try and see if your local pc store sells RAM and buy another 64mb (or more) of low density RAM. Make sure you ask for low density-hi density is usually chp and doesnt work with all PCs, its troublesome. I don't have much info to work with but you can also ask for a nivida graphics card which supports 3d graphics. Nivida's my trusted brand though there's other good brands. RAM is pretty easy to install after you get it. You can simply google it for more info-google's your best friend ;]

The reason for the difference in system requirements for the different versions of Windows is that each version uses different amounts of resources for itself. Newer versions require more and more resources just for the OS itself, leaving less for other applications. Thus you'll need a larger amount of RAM to run something on Vista than you would to run the same program on XP or 98.
