what's up with the scammers, spammers and beggars on DW?

RANT WARNING

Is this normal? This server seemed so great when I started over a month ago. Slowly it seems like theres been an influx of jerks. Most of them low level. Any one else notice this?

Scammers. The catshop ones are the most common. Not just ridiculous prices, but Items like friendship stones and sadness cards for sale. what?

This one happened tome two days ago. I was trying ot buy spurs of alacrity or trade polarbear+1 mill, for spured polar bear 10ms. Some Elf_Tanker guy says he has it. I revert the mount and go to trade.
ME: "did you revert it already?"
ET: "revert what?"
ME: "mount"
ET: "Oh yeah I have never used it"
I go trade. Once he sees that I have everything he says
ET: "oh I have it in my safe. give me the stuff and you follow me".
ME: "how about I follow you and we trade at banker? You gotta go there anyway"
ET: "no"
ET: "I wont scam"
ET: "I promise"
ET: "please"
ET: "please trust me"
ME: "thanks" And I leave
ET: "ok follow me"
ET: "I know a faster way" Here I follow him around for a minute to the side of a hill (what is he gonna do?)
ET: "sorry man, its just tha my sister has it and she has been using it"
ME: "whats her name so I can invite her to squad"
ET: "wizardgirl5293"
ME: "cant invite her player does not exist"
ET: "she is already in another squad"
ET: "ok she's coming. quick gimme the stuff and she gives you the cub" b:chuckle
ME: "Nah I'll just trade directly"
ET: "no give me stuff, she give cub"
ET: "please"
ME: "ok thanks man" and I leave
ET: "no please"
ET: "she's almost here!"
ME: "sure thing"
ET: "shes in scorpion valley!"

Then the beggars. These guys like to hang around mostly on city of the lost, and also etherblade, and plume. Mostly city of the lost. They have sad stories like "I npcd my weapon now I have no weapon", "my account got **** into", "I need money for __________ can you lend me 30,000? I'll pay everything back". Some just flat aout ask you for money. What the hell

Then you got FB beggars hanging outside the FB's asking to join up. Get a team togheter and do it that way. I dont even know who you are.

Last the WC spammers.....GRRRRRRR. That is all I am saying. GRRRRRRR. b:angry

    It took me since may 25th until today. I play fairly often. I think I can do it in less on a next build, but not two weeks yet. If you see me ingame dont hesitate to greet me.

    lol, kidding. <_<;; Yeah, they're scummy little gits. I like to toy around with them a bit if I'm bored, though.

    And usually at that point I'm guessing they gave up or their wee little brains imploded. :P But on a serious note, ya. Curious as to what's stopping them from just setting up a basic buy/sell shop with decent prices or even just going out to quest and grind, NPC and Sell a few things. It's not exactly difficult at the early stages, and even the stage I'm at now, to earn money.
    Hell, I have my fashion outfit, gear for my levels and levels ahead. With cash to spare! O_o Ah well. Got my own little rant in I suppose.

    I've never had much problem with this stuff.
    I tend to avoid the main cities (I only go to Archo for CS and if I have to for a quest)
    I do my other errands in whatever small town is closest. For AH, I'll drop in on Dreamweaver.

    Yea I noticed that too. :/

    Also beware of the guys selling shards for Crazy Stone in front of Hou Jen. I usually check these shops out of curiosity and a common practice I noticed lately is to sell 4 types of rough element shards for let's say 1999 coins and the 5th one for 19999 coins. I doubt anyone would be so blind to actually fall for that... but still. It's a bit annoying that people just can't stop trying to **** with other players.


    What was a bit funny though was some random guy asking for 2m coins in Archo last night. lol So many people got annoyed by him and told him to shut up but he just didn't stop. I always wonder if these people don't have anything better to do. But maybe it was just a bot or something...

    Just stay away from plume and the other cities. Ive noticed this too, but if you played ********* before this game, beggars are nothing here. Make a account at *********, three minutes in you will see people cussing and everything. That is the main reason why I left. If I see a beggar I usually blacklist them lolb:victory

    You don't need to put up with them. Thats about it. If something seems odd, just simply blacklist them.

    Spammers, beggers and scammers exist in real life (on tv and on the streets) so expect to see it in game too.

    I just think twice before I buy, sell or give items. As for beggers I just ignore them and carry on whatever I was doing. Anything with "my sister/friend/[insert fake relative here]" I've already been there and so I just drop the deal right away and quit wasting time.

    It is rather annoying. Specially beggars. Had one girl walk up to me in game and said i should give her fire works cause she didnt have any gold for it. then another girl in plume i met and she wanted me to buy her gold form the Auction House. Told her i didnt have any money (Had only bout 20k any how)

    As for Scammers. How about the people who think its ok to sell gold at over over 200 friggn k?! YOU PEOPLE ARE TWITS. Seriously. even if you sold gold for 100k each you would STILL make a proffit. The lower the price the MORE MONEY you get. for those who don't get it yet here is an example:

    Customer: -Walks into store and looks at candy- Wow this candy looks yummy!
    Store: Why yes it is! Ill ring some up for you!
    Customer: How much?
    Store: 5 Dollars. (or what ever currency you use)
    Customer: WOW for a whole bag?!
    Store: No, per piece.

    (Can you see where this is going yet?)
    Customer: Um, thanks but no. -leavs and goes to cheaper store who gets more money and puts the over priced store out of business.-

    Its that simple >.< Lower prices so players can afford gold again! Specially ones like my one friend who relys ont he gold market to get her cash shop items cause her parents wont let her spend real money. Ty.

    I ran into a begger once with my noob bm (lvl 5 then)
    He just asked me for 30k >.< and even was higher lvl b:sweat

    Gold prices are way to high atm!!!

    But there is nothing wrong with standing at an fb waiting for someone that has to do his fb. Cuz there are some ppl that needs his/her fb done and just go to fb entrance hoping for someone to help them. This means ppl who have already squad ready. Not the ppl who just stand there alone, they just do it for the exp (ok, can live with that..) and some of them try to steal boss drops!! (just want to kill those $&%$!@#) b:angry

    ok so thats done. I don't see it going down. -.o As for my example it was ment to portray that people will ALWAYS go for the cheaper product. so in a way they can make more money by taking the buyers of others who are selling higher. Maybe not for long, but it happens. (just means they get thier money faster and you get gold faster)

    Gold should go up. There's no reason for it to hover at 200k, the demand is clearly showing it's value to be above that and coin chests alone aren't abundant enough or cheap enough to hold it at 200k (which makes no sense anyways, it costs coin to get them so the basic idea of 1000000/5 fails).

    Anyways, scammers suck but I filter them out. If I'm in a crowded area (or people are wasting their money in wc) I filter chat to faction only. My absolute favorite is situations like what I experienced yesterday. A squad has me go help them in 2-1, I end up subbing it, get spammed for the rest of the night by an idiot trying to pay me 1 million to solo 1-2 for him, deal with a squad wasting their charms/repair costs for no reason, and walk away with a single 50k item while everyone else gets 500k and I got to listen to people whine over their 30k repairs while I ended up with 60k.

    The best part? One of them was begging me for subs so he could make some gear (to sell btw, not use) after the run.

    Situations like this quickly remind me why I don't squad with many people. I would kill for a regular squad of people that know how to play and aren't idiots. I have a semi regular group now but playtimes/level gaps kill half the squad.

    Anyways, that's a pretty unrelated rant. Here's a more related response:

    The analogy is flawed. You can convert dollars to gold, but you can't (legally) convert gold to dollars, like the store owner can convert their money back into product. It's a one way expense for a gold seller, people seem to be more aware now of the AH fees and the buyer/seller prices are 4% apart almost every time I look. So it's not really an issue of someone selling one gold for say 200k, then buying at 190k, and repeating (2400 profit there), that profit margin would remain the same at any gold value. The profit margin there is really small for a pretty high risk.
