Is this a dumb idea?

Hey all, just an idea ive been workin on with my wizard, was wondering what others thought:

I'm kinda building mine to be a hybrid of light armour and pure magic at the moment, giving myself enough STR and DEX to wear some light armour but not enough for all, and wearing arcane armour where needed. I thought this way I might be able to better balance my magic resist and still have decent phys resist.

Could this type of balance work at higher levels? or will it just mean im hopeless against both? haha

You might as well do light armor build....since you can wear arcane armor, light armor, and equip a weapon of ur lvl. 1 dex, 1str, 3 magic.....or in other words dex +4 your lvl, str +4 your lvl, rest magic. I dont get what u mean by hybrid?

If you do 1 str 1 dex 3 magic every level you will be able to wear all light armor of your level AS WELL as all robes of your levels so you can keep 2 sets of armor and switch them when ever you wantb:victory

By Hybrid i mean having enough str and dex to wear light armour a few lvls below mine and use the rest in magic to not lose as much fire power, would this be affective?

Might as well be full light armor build. I wouldnt find it effective since light armor thats a few lvls behind you is not really worth it your magic def would suck in pk.

edit - Imagine a lvl 80+ wiz wearing lvl 60 light armor chest, lvl 56 boots, etc....

Purely for defence pick LA build so you can wear both sets. Go pure for high Mag Def and attack.

Not a good idea. With wearing a low lvl LA armour u shld just get ur current lvl arcane and refine it and citrine shard it well.

Either go for real LA build where u can wear current lvl arcane, or go for just arcane.

Whats e point of going 1 lousy armour and 1 same lvl when u can have both same lvl

Well seeing that your in Harshland (pvp) you may wanna pick LA if your gona be pking or w.e however if you wish to only PvE and pvp at 9x then by all means go arcane.Im LA btwb:victoryb:cuteb:thanks

Depends on u personally. Im the type of person who can forego pking until lvl9X. Thats y i was LA since 60 , and i lvl fast cause zhen parties want me, RB gammas want me. LA just aint as squishy as arcane..obviously. Then at 9X when u wanna focus on ur pk, reset ur skill points to pure mag, arcane.

You know if you choose arcane and pay attention to your apothecary crafting you can use those +33% Pdamage reduction charms until LvL 60 (among other useful pills), at which point you'll have hopefully maxed out your Stone/Earth Barrier and saved enough coin to do at least a little decent sharding.
You still won't be as tough as LA, but you'll be a lot tougher than average arcane and the going gets a lot easier than if you persist with just your robes, your wand and under-leveled skills. Unless you're rich enough to HP charm your way to 90.
