b:angry Ok we all love PWI.... but compared to games like [removed] this is just a mess, just take a look at the cat shops all over west archo. I dun really think that this is is being organized at all... it is like a country with no laws at all...

Take a look at ragnarok and their shops....

There are rules. Why dont GMs or whatever set a couple of rules like
1 "Cat shops should be set on sidewalks"
2 "Limits on how many cat shops can be set in N.S.E.W. Archo" or i dunno maybe a place where we can go teleport and shop in that exclusive place...
3 "No catshops near NPCs nor on top of them" now that i remember PPL are crowded all over the hou jenshsi npc waiting for their crazy stone reward.. .that really sucks... sometimes u cant even click on the npc ..

I guess all this rules should make archo and the game itself better looking and organized and more important is NO LAG ... specially for ppl who doesnt have a super monster pc, but even with one it still lags like hell ... JESUS CHRIST LAG LAG LAG

Im telling you guys (GMs) THIS whole bunch of cat shops mess all around archo cant be added on the "enjoyable gaming experience" list.

Please guys do something....

I totally agree that there should be a special place to teleport to for cat shops. I like that you can just go to them to buy **** but in archo they're EVERYWHERE.

They cause major lag when i'm just trying to fly somewhere for a quest and it takes me twice the amount of time it would if there were no catshops around.

It makes me hate archo and not want to go there unless i must -.-

there is an option above your hp bar that makes everything out of range disappear. there is also shift-click which can target any npc thru even the largest crowd of people.

It is kind of to bad you have you buy and sell on pvp server in the first place as well as killing mobs.I tried LC and found it no different then Sanc. The only diffference is the pk button is removed other than that is feels like a pve server. You shouldn't have to use spirit for skills as well and have ready made top lvl char. You go there to pvp not grind through lvling.

I lag as bad as anyone in west Arch.

It happens, ffs. You will find somewhere in any game that is the equiv of west arch.

All things considered - it's really not that bad.

That option doesnt works at all ... everyday .. west archo is getting more and more crowded... lag is a huge problem .. and not only lag....

look at archo with all the cat shops all over the place like a mess .. does it look good to u ???

I guess no. therefore, "cat shops in sidewalks only" is a good rule

    Two Words:

    Free Market

---> Yes the lag can be an issue for many, but the truth is you can access the Auction House from other locations, as well as other Kitty Shops. The fact is, (like was said before), is that you really do not spend that much time in Arch as it is.

Catshops, mostly, lives off the spontanous buyers. Those who go "Hmm, I'm getting tired of these pants. Oh, look, a catshop selling new cool pants!" And though they annoy me, I must admit that I, at times, take a walk through west archo and look for good deals while waiting for my CS to tick down. Not entirely rarely, I end up buying something.

Removing the catshops from west archo would remove this spontanity, and also break part of the economy - only those with a purpose would head into this specialised teleport area.

And let's not forget that if we do put up a specialised area for catshops, it would be crowded beyond imagination. All the catshops from all cities would be in that area, with the result that prices would be very, very easily comparable, and the economy in the game would do a bellyflop due to competing catshoppers ("I sell GAs for 35k each!" "Well, then I sell them for 30k!" "I'll sell them for 25k!" ect..).

And then we have respawn issues. When leaving said potential catshop-heaven, we would likely respawn in a specific area, like we currently do with the cube and all other dungeon-esque instances. That is not fun is the respawn area is at the opposite end of where we want to be. If I'm killing stuff in Land of Bones, I don't want to respawn on Misfortune Island when I go to get a few more GAs. If I'm lurking around 1k streams, it's -not- fun to respawn in Dreamweaver Port.

One solution, however, could be to make a 10-meter "catshop free" zone around all NPCs. So if you're within 10 meters of a NPC, you can't open the catshop. That should clear up some of the NPC-groupings, and push catshops to different areas.

    1. ragnarok has NO rules about how merchants can set their vends up, its just as willy nilly as PWI
    2. GMs cant do squat, thats a job for the dev team. GMs are like police officers, and dudes that work at the customer service counter at a walmart. they cant do anything about these kind of complaints

I don't know about the sidewalk thing, but there should definitely be some way to limit it. You don't have to have a bad computer to experience lag in archosaur. I also agree that it's a total mess. I can't see anything in front of me, half the time the NPC's I need to talk to are blocked, and I can't even read most the shop names because they stack on top of each other.

It greatly lowers my gaming experience and I DO spend a lot of time in that city. Perhaps an option to toggle off the shops, so that we don't have to load all those stupid cats?

I have friends who's computers crash in some places there even with the graphics settings set at their lowest. Can't anything be done? b:cryb:surrenderb:bye

EDIT: Also, AVRIE, I think a lot of us know that but we have nowhere else to give our feedback and figure that someone higher up will eventually see this.

I kind of like my option of toggling off the shops.

It is a general rule that the reasons to enter W Arch are very limited. For example, I go there to browse shops or to do Crazy Stone. Maybe, I'm not high enough to understand more reasons to go there but it still must be very few reasons.

Other free to play games start every person that logs in at the same point on the same map. Everyone sets up player shops in that town. That was a lag issue complained about because the shop-lag couldn't be avoided and lead to failed logins and high load times.

What are the other reasons to visit W Arch besides shopping and CS quest? If you dedicated an island to only cat shops the lag would be worse because then no one would setup in the starting cities or other towns. I don't have very much of a lag problem after I click the icon to hide players' names, I don't even use the Shift-F9 feature because the icon to hide player names is more effective - try that way from now on or a combination of both hiding players' names and Shift-F9. b:victory

I spend alot of time in archo too >_<
For the people saying "you wont spend an hour in archo"
    yeah, i will
i've spent up to 3 lagging the whole time!
I'm not there because i WANT to be, i don't like it anyways because it's so big and annoying to get around. So they should at least deal with catshops somehow to lower the lag.

I do agree that some idea would be nice to solve the clutter. I don't think it's quite a top priority..., but it would be nice to have some areas designated as (place shops here). Also, using the idea "it's a F2P game" (or any derivative thereof) is another way of saying "we don't care about our product cause it's free" (<.<), ...and I highly doubt the devs think that way.

Still, I don't think it's going to be solved anytime soon. Also, this has probably already been mentioned by now in this thread (and many many times elsewhere), ...but by holding "shift" down you can click on those npcs you can't quite see.

my dumb idea for solving the catshop problem :

first off... genies are more a problem... so are the people who sit on their mounts in front of every NPC.

1 - disable genies upon entering town

2- disable mounts and increase running speed (only in town) to the speed of your mount

3- make catshop signs out of less polygons, make them more thin.

or plan B - make consignment shops a part of the auction house.. but that would kill the point of the auction house.

plan C dump consignment altogether and force everyone into AH!!! jk

I LOL when I see people in common chat in West Arch say things like "can you plz move ur big **** mount cuz i cant click on banker okay?!?!"

This hint will be your best friend, ever. Press and hold the shift key. Move your mouse near the NPC you want to click while continuing to hold down shift. Miracle of all miracles, you can click through people, cat shops, mounts, and anything else! WONDER OF WONDERS! HOORAY!

If your computer is running this game on min. requirements and you have full graphics on in west arch...you're gonna lag. There are things you can do to make life easier in west. Turn on optimal settings. Turn off graphic effects. Turn down terrain and any other settings not necessary while in West Arch. These things help at least a little bit, QQing and trying to make rules about where you can put cat-shops doesn't. Cat-shops ONLY on the sidewalk will not cut down on lag, man.
"there is a majority of people I can't here stand anymore. The skill level in TW has decreased dramatically. Frankly I am tired leading a TW of a bunch of idiots and morons. I outlasted my patience for them. I just can't waste anymore time here." ~Ehmi's leaving post.

agreed, the cats are stupid. They look dumb, they clutter, even if you do want something itd take ages to read thru all to try and find what u want, they're just pointless.

There should be an npc that can take all these sale requests and organize them into catagories, and if item doesnt sell in x hours then its removed.

The cats are really really dumb.

Imagine how hard it would be to look through certain catshops if they were ALL on the sidewalks.
They would all be bunched together and you'd probably end up repetitivley [or however you spell that] clicking one that you didn't mean to.

I do NOT enjoy them, but the sidewalk idea would cause chaos.

Well i dont lag ... only a very lil in archo XD still... cat shops limit.. donno... seems u dont set a shop. if u were, u would moan bout A LIMIT . cause "u cant set a shop where u want!!! :P" maybe try lowergin graphics settings etc...

    AND TAARLOR:
there is npc called AUCTIONNER ;p it does exaclty what u said ;p its like in every game.. u can set items on auction or set player shop. but to be honest... Auction HERE comparing with auction in games i was playing before (example "Rappelz") is really poor. and SEARCHING is soo bad. should be search option by ITEM name not auction number. and item list should be able to make more clear. like sorting items: by price, by name etc. choosen by player. not so hard if possible in other games ;p

I have a pretty decent computer and yet it lags like a ****... imagine my gf havin an old laptop...

it is obviously not a good solution...

IM not trying to set rules... that is what i think it could be done...

I dunno who are the ones in charge of solving this stuff but i say that something should be done... i spend alot of time in archo doing business...

PPL are just freaking ungrateful and wanted to pretend they know everything or they are kewl and that thing freaking pisses me off... This is a post not only to help myself.. is to help everybody ...

Archo being lagless hurts??? jesus christ...

The problem is that no product will ever satisfy 100% of the people. If there were a game that paid you to play it, people would eventually complain that they weren't being paid enough to play the game. Hence, the reason why both Coke and Pepsi haven't merged into one company. If people hated the company the merger created then both parties would lose money.

Use these complaints as fuel for your own creativity. If you figure out all the things that you dislike about a game and design one to fit your liking, someone will end up not like your idea. The idea is ambitious but it must not have been implemented in-game originally for some reason.

Some consumers complain for the sake of complaining but continue to patronize the product/company they claim to despise. Example: Mr. Thirsty comes to the same fast food restaurant to order coffee, prepared identically everyday; each day he complains that the coffee is terrible and unleashes his anger upon the staff. One day he comes in and the coffee is great but he then complains it is too expensive; the next week the coffee is on special but each day that week the man complains that the company thinks he is poor because they are asking him to pay a reduced price for coffee.

The game is the way it is because the least of amount of people are complaining with this setup compared to any other setup.

I am not trying to throw a wet blanket on this fire but developers of games that have 11mil people playing (no names please) make race/skill/class changes constantly to try and please their subscribers but it always POs people. By PWI not making constant changes, at least the same people will stay PO'd and not create NEW angry patrons every patch heh.

This is just my opinion of why the catshops work the way they do so please don't kill me b:surrender

Uh, no? With perfect information, everything would (eventually) be worth exactly how much they are worth. Market price.

There is one demand curve, and barring demand curve shifts, if there are twenty different prices, the cheapest will of course go first, until it hits a point where nobody left is willing to buy. New shops will come up, and see this price, and set it slightly below. ("It's not selling at 25k, I'll set it at 24k.") So long as the ratio of new sellers and buyers is constant, the price will remain constant. The demand curve and the supply curve don't move, so price fluctuations will be minor (mostly due to catshop patience) and remain around the equilibrium point.

If the curves shift due to a supply shock (Ex: a 1/10000 drop suddenly becomes a 1/10, flooding the market) or a demand shock (Ex: Suddenly Pig Iron is the primary component of Warsoul weapons) then when the market settles, the prices will once again be minor fluctuations around the equilibrium price.

The current lack of perfect information allows for a broad range of prices - there is a built in "convenience fee" in either time (spent looking for a good price) or money (buy high or sell low instead of spending time). The economy will only experience a small change where low prices will rise and high prices will drop, but it will hardly destabilize.

I do enjoy browsing shops, but I wish that there was some way to have an external view of what they're doing. Some indication of who's buying, selling, and both. Dang it people, put more useful information in your shop names! If I'm trying to buy mats and there's 20 shops, 5 of which says "S> Mats", the others saying unhelpful things, guess which I'll be looking at first, and which I may not be bothering to look at?

(That last paragraph doesn't apply to shops who always happen to be in the same position under the same name. In the real world, that sort of branding/goodwill is an intangible asset you have to legally declare under GAAP, hehe.)
