What's in your pet bag?

So, just curious. What all does everyone put in their pet bag, what skills did they put on the pets, and why does the pet warrant a slot in your bag?

For me:
1. Herc - L74 (same as me), Strong/Protect/Reflect/Bash, it's my tank.
2. Acephalid Death Knight - L70 (tame level), Bash/Fireball/Roar at starting levels, I just use it because it looks cool, sometimes I send it on suicide runs for luring.
3. Elysum Fowl - L73 (tame level), Bash/Slow/Boost at starting levels, I didn't want to skill my bee and was sick of leveling it so I upgraded to this. I'll replace it with a Phoenix for an air (and dps) pet once I have one, but the last three I've farmed, I've ended up giving to friends that I convinced to play so they could have hercs, I'm not smart.
4. Eldergroth Marksman - 73, Bash/Roar/Pierce at starting levels. Every few levels I catch this one up to me, I use it for luring at times and whenever I actually get myself a Phoenix I'll start focusing on this guys skills. Eventually I would like for it to have Strong/Protect/Blessing/Boost in order to make it an excellent range tank.
5. Tortise Everlasting - 51 (tame level), Bash/Tough/Pierce at starting levels. Basically, the egg was sitting in my bank and I wanted the slot back, so I farmed up 100 fungus for the bag slot to put the tortise in it. As I said before, I'm not smart... the easy thing to do would have been to just drop it on the ground.

    2. Antelup Pup (79) Icecly and Howl
    3. Sawfly (79) Bash and Toxic Mist
    4. Orchid Pitalii (79) Toxic Mist and Slow
    5. Huggy Hare (78) sandblow pierce and shrill

At this point I am still level 79 (getting closer to 80). I also have a scorpion, a carapest and a few other pets... really need more slots on my bag :) Those get rotated depending on what I need or feel like using.

How is claw working on your scorpion? I was thinking of trying to get it for mine. And for that 4th skill on scorp, sacrifice may work nicely if it is not taking any damage, although I have no idea how that would affect aggro...

    On Ninetail Firefox (normal): normal attack - 1933, w/claw - 2413

It's no Nix, and most of the time it won't be a faster kill speed since you're doing a much heavier amount of damage than the improvement. It did help me to get it leveled from 60 to 84 though by helping with aggro. By trying to maximize killing speed with it in grinding, I burn through MP faster than I like (using ironwood).

    Ironwood: normal attack - 2612, w/claw - 2698

I have sacrifice on my Marksman. It cost me 15m (didn't have a clue about it taking a whole 75% hp when I impulse bought it). I've used it on boss fights where the tanker could hold aggro, but having to heal it each time just takes away from my comparable damaging attack as well as risking aggro stealing. In grinding, it could only be used as a finishing move which is difficult and burdensome to time. I think of it as a PvP only skill, and I have yet to feel compelled to go white name. =(

I like your decisions before this which makes me wonder. Is there a use for having a ranged tank when you have a Herc? One of the things I like about the Marksman is it can avoid close range AoE which wouldn't utilize tanking skills. For luring, Tough would be a much cheaper and comparable skill only taking up 1 skill slot.

Maybe on some later bosses, but I can use it on Slither, Slitt, and a couple of other casters where I can't otherwise avoid the AE, in those circumstances it's preferable to a herc. The reason for Strong is due to the event of physical AE's or so I could make use of it for Luring. I could go either way with that skill and instead take Tough as a cheaper alternative. It's still a little ways away from having those skills. However, having the magic resist buff seems like a must to me, as the goal would be to improve it's tanking ability and, what else would I put in the slot? Only buffs and heals are possibilities for the use I want out of it. Though, I could see an argument to use Claw as well, as aggro on a range tanking marksman is extremely poor at best.

Not sure, but I don't think Marksman's range puts you outside of their AoE on those 2. They're also not even worth taking on imho. I think but am not sure that the Celestial Sting and another cactopod in Eden (FB89) may have longer range. It's unfortunate that most high level venos don't share this kind of information.

It does, I was able to solo both Slitt and Slither at 60 due to that. There may also be similar things in the future where I can use it, and if not, it's ok. Being able to keep something casting rather than meleeing and casting is rather valuable at times. At 62 I was almost able to solo Chintien in 1-1 solo using the marksman (couldn't do it though, had to do it with the magmite at 63) by being able to remove some of the damage. I do admit I use it a lot less since getting the herc but I originally got it as a niche pet, and that's exactly what it is right now.
