well i have played many mmos and this happens to be the only one i hear people saying no mp pots in duels lol it sounds ridiculous....i would understand if it was hp but mp to me should be no prob i wanna hear what everyone has to say on this ......they call it an unwritten rule ....also stated that in duels a player should use all of his ability strategically till mp runs out ....it does sound interesting but i wanna hear the majority opinion.

Sounds to me like a BS "rule."

Anyhow, duels are just toned-down versions of PvP, and in PvP you wouldn't hear somebody saying "No fair! You used MP pots so it doesn't count as a PK!"

You shouldn't even bother dueling. It's not really going to prepare you for pk/tw. And it's just a waste of charms (after duel is over).

Anyways, I generally don't use pots of any sort when dueling.

Its not really that you cant use MP pots, its just that its waste of pots.

I wonder, though: Is it alright for clerics to heal themselves during a duel?

I've done this in duels ever since I saw an FS cleric duel and win by spamming Ironheart on herself and then attacking, but then I feel kinda bad for doing it.

    thats pathetic.

I played a bit with my cleric and dueled a barb. Me and the barb were below level 30.
So I used fly and started to attack the barb, imediatelly we started insulting me and QQ. Then I spam Ironheart on me and went to the ground. Put plume shell on me and started to kill the barb in the ground. I won and the barb QQ in the chat calling me a cheater and reported me for cheating... of course I never got a ban lmao xD

Unless you're just having fun, you should always run some rules before dueling if you want a 'serious' result. For instance, lets say you never bothered to get a genie and the other dude has a high lv 1 with decent pvp skills. Clearly the fight wont be fair. So you could ask him to not use it.

As for real PvP duels, everything is allowed (pot, charm, genie, whatever). Its kind of a waste of money, reason why most ppl just duel for fun.

Dude, never use flying mount if the opponent doesnt have 1 either. Its like the most pathetic thing 1 can do in a duel.
Try to play fair next time and im sure the barb wont complain.

Most people wear charms so Pots are uneeded. No sense in wasting either for Duels though and it is more interesting when you just do your darndest until dry. A Duel is meant to be a full test of your abilities Vs. a single opponant in a fair and honorable engagement. You test your full limitations when using no outside help whatsoever (no outside buffs, pots, etc...).

Honestly, those who burn charms in Duels are really dim not only because what is the point? "Oh look I can survive longer because I have a charm healing me constantly! Huh huh!" but also because it is a lot of expense for no reason. That said, I do LOVE fully draining their charm if they will stick around long enough to let me Muhahaahaa (love Leech & Mist...).

For flat-out PK I can see it a little more to protect yourself from suprise death (though I suspect it rarely does) but to be honest I find using Charms for PK even to be dull. Yay...So what do they do? They just make the fights drag on and on and on...That sure is way more fun...NOT. I know just how pathetic long engagements can be after dueling a Tiger Barb that was higher level...He could not hit me most of the time and I life stoled back the damage he dealt but I could barely hurt him on my own either. The fight would have lasted forever but I finally pulled out my pet (A Wolf not a NIX) and took him down before we both died of boredom.

Clerics healing is perfectly acceptable, it's what defines their class, nobody tells a bm that they can't stun, so why can't a cleric heal. Also I think that MP pots are acceptable for duels, both sides need mp, and it doesn't make the duel unfair in any way because of such easy access to mp pots. Using a 2 spark chi pot during a duel is debatable because they're much harder to get than a simple mp pot.

ya charms dont work in duels. If your HP is low the charm doesnt tick until the end of duel =p

idk about MP charms though im a wizard and never run out of MP =p
Sins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
    ...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze

If a melee thinks that a class, that has 1/3 their HP and 1/3 to 1/4 their def. cannot IH in duels and expects that to be fair............ needs to be PKed from the entire server.

Why do you even bother dueling then if you aren't willing to pit class vs class with no outside variables? Dueling already means little, and to do what you purport just makes it even more pointless.

Um...I am going to guess either A) You have no idea what you are talking about or B) You are just trollin' because I KNOW Barbs do not just magically regen full HP when you hit just under half with no visual effect or consistant healing thereafter. So obviously it was a Charm and I do not run in PK mode thus it was a Duel. Besides my Brambles were hurting the Charm wearer and they do not work in real PK only Duels. Unless Charms were disabled in Duels in this very last expansion or more than one person I have Dueled has **** their game (which seems unlikely to me) then you are full of it.

I think hp charms will only kick in after the duel is over.

Ya, I wanted to troll a bit, so did you want, but basically idea is same, your point is wrong. I have dueled few times for chi and few times because fb51 you need to wait.

My charm didnt work in duel, but after it ended it kicked in. So did everyone esle, if you see someones HP jumping up at duel he uses pots or somethin`. Its generaly known that charms dont work.

I can tell you from experience that neither HP or MP charms will kick in during a duel, they will wait until after it is finished to replenish either your HP or MP (whichever charm you're wearing, or both if that's the case). If the person you (Hasukurobi) were dueling suddenly had a bunch of hp regenerate, it must've been a potion or genie skill or some other thing. There are apothecary potions that regen quite a bit of health instantaneously or over a short period of time.

Orb of Vibrating Light recovers 4000 HP over 30 seconds
Samsara Orb instantly recovers 1-2000 HP
Dark Green Orb recovers 6000 HP over 30 seconds
Principle Orb instantly recovers 1-4000 HP
Transform Powder instantly recovers 1-6000 HP
Samsara Wheel instantly recovers 60% HP and MP

Not all of them will have massive visual effects (I haven't seen them all, obviously).

But I know for a fact it's not the charms. And they haven't worked in duels for a very long time (as long as I remember and have used charms)

Sunder, two spark skill, but it should be a HoT effect, not instantaneous if I'm reading the skill description right.

Flying during a duel is just plain cheap.
Even the devs think its a really stupid thing, you can only PVP after lvl 30, where everyone can fly.
But then again its just a duel lol.
Dont forget that every class except archer has a healing skill, and they can use that during a duel.
Why didnt we get a healing skill =( Even barbs have them and they have soo much hp.
