So when do you guys plan to patch this? Or are you just gunna ignore it and let it continue to happen like you do with most bugs? It gets really annoying, playing for like 1-2 hours then performance goes to complete shi.t. I switched from a West Coast server to the east coast ones to reduce lag, but now thanks to the memory leak i fu,cking lag all the time.

Wonder why I haven't had any issues with this. b:question

I'm sure they are working on it... even rich **** p2p games spend months "trying" to fix it unsuccessfully.

If you know anything about memory leaks, they aren't exactly anything close to easy to fix... If they fix it in 2 months or less, i'm very impressed.b:shocked

Be patient. It's not bad at all.. you're not crashing every 5-10 minutes. Be happy about that ;D I've seen it that bad, lasted for maaany months..

I think its gotten better. But still not fixed completely. I never had to use the option to optimize before and now i have to every time i enter arch.

What would be nice is if they put a distance limit on Catshops. So that you would only have so many Catshops in a certain area by volume.....sigh...wishful thinking....

For those not having issues, setup catshop in West Arch where all the other catshops are, and go afk. See what happens after an hour or so, and check your memory usage, if the game hasn't crashed.

Yes, it'll probably take a while to fix the leak, although at least people know that PW didn't suffer from this until the patch that added in the genies.

Best thing that one can do to delay the leak if you have to set up a catshop is to go into windowed mode, and actually close the window by hitting the x in the upper right hand corner. It doesn't stop it completely, but it sure helps.

Why not just set up a catshop somewhere else? Or not setup a catshop at all. I havent had any problems with this so called memory leak everone speaks of.

I keep somebody on catshop in the crowded areas of west arch almost 24/7 on a spare pc, never have problems.

No problems? How much ram do you have, what OS are you using, and are you keeping the actual window open? Also, do you have a dual/quad core cpu?

As for the setting up catshop part, people are used to going to a certain area to buy stuff, if you setup catshop elsewhere, you'll get less business. Plus if you just use the AH, selling like 16+ items each time in stacks is certainly going to add up to a hefty fee.

So this is why, if I go afk in arch or set up shop too long, everything lags out like crazy and runs extremely slow? I thought it was a problem with my computer ^^ First time ever since I bought my laptop that I've been getting warning messages for too much memory usage.

That said, it isn't a really huge issue. The game is still perfectly playable.

Yes, that's why. It might help when setting a cat shop to reduce the Distance and Effect settings to 0.

Yeah I keep it in full screen, here's some of the spec's from what I remember when I built it. I'm at work atm xD

    AMD 2.4ghz dual-core cpu
    ECS Mobo (Cheap)
4 gigs ocz gaming ram platinum series. Can't remember the timing, it's pretty fast
    Vista 32-bit
    Evga 9800 Gtx+ Graphics card
Like 500 or 600 watt Thermaltake psu I think.

I have ethernet connection through a router with ****ty comcast cable, always making me lag >_> through a Cat 5e cord.

I really wonder why the memory leak occurs for some people, and not others. I still experience a leak when I turn my settings all down to minimum. I use windows xp, have 2 gigs of ram, use a 9800 gt and a core2duo. I also have nothing running in the background besides winamp and minimal processes, and i'm pretty much streamlined as far as drivers and such go, and am virus/spyware free. I'm starting to wonder whether it is OS related, or the amount of ram and timings/brand matters.

If you have a lot of memory, then you probably won't notice it a lot.

If you don't set a cat shop in West Arch, or go there or any other major city then you won't notice it a lot.

It isn't OS related or brand/timings. It's the amount of RAM the program is using.

I think there's other factors as well, it helps to make sure you're graphics are all the way down.

Tip: Minimizing the game (return to the desktop) will lower the CPU usage and ease the memory leak or at least help prevent it from crashing over a short period of time. b:victory

It's mostly how much RAM the program is running. The other factors are what tend to increase the amount of RAM being used.

Yeah.. Age of Conan had this problem HUGE.. And there were alot of high end pc's for DirectX 10 version of AoC that played that mmo. Yet, sometimes, they had the issue far worse than somebody with only 1 gig Ram. They must havee had a ton of stuff being ran alot.

It does nothing. Just give it time and it'll get there. It doesn't suddenly jump to 1,000,000K in a second even with max settings. It slowly leaks. b:chuckle

I'll explain what I meant for you since you don't seem to understand simple concepts. b:chuckle

If you reduce your distance settings it won't load anyone unless they pass with-in your distance settings, and it won't load graphics of terrain that are beyond your distance settings thus reducing the amount of memory required.

I never said it wouldn't stop the amount of memory being used from increasing over time, I said it would help slow down the increase.

I have tried it on 2 different systems. One XP SP3 and the other is a Vista Home Premium 32 bit. Both systems do the same thing and I think it is getting worse. Now it is happening to me in Sourth arch too. What in the world is running the memory up like that?
