Hi, I'm ToTaLe. I am an experienced guild leader and have played the game for a long time and I am very familiar with all the concepts of a perfect world faction/guild.

ToTaLe's Complete Guide to Factions

From being a member to creating and running your own.

I'm going to start us off with a complete noobs guide to factions from the point of joining a faction.

What is a faction?

First of all I'll give a quick introduction to guilds/factions, I'll try to keep it brief. A guild or faction is a group of people who get together to form a sort of team. They work together to accomplish common goals.

A feature of Perfect World is the faction. It is often that a user would wish to either join or create their own faction.

Benefits of a faction?

Now let me get to benefits of the faction. A good faction should help you, its member, to do various things from quests to bosses to dungeons.

Further more, factions have the capability to do a mid to end game feature called Territory Wars, or TW for short. These enable you to battle other factions, control land, and make money, lots of money.

How do I join?

Factions are usually relatively easy to join. Generally factions tend to match up the same kind of levels, like the more elite factions will have a group of level 70+ where as a newer faction run by a lower level might have all levels.

Most factions recruit over world chat. The one viewable through local/common chat that appears yellow. Using world chat helps the faction more because it reaches everyone. Typically they will include the name of the faction and some requirements to join. If you think its a faction you'd like to be in just send a message to either the person who sent the world chat or whomever the world chat specifies for you to send a personal message (pm) or whisper (whisp) to.

In addition to that, you may see a leader, director, marshal, or executor, or even a regular member for that matter, of the faction you are interested in joining. You could simply contact them and they will at least consider letting you join.

How do I get promoted?

Getting promoted really isn't complicated. Promotion is at the discreation of the leader, director, or marshal. Simple things like being active and online, being helpful to guild members, being outgoing, being kind and curtious, referring people to the guild, and in effect, just being generally better than the rest.

One thing that helps is to tell your guild leader you want a promotion, don't beg, but a subtle way to do this is to either ask your guild leader about what it takes to get a promotion, or sometimes coming straight out and asking for a promotion. Just be nice, half the time you guild leader doesn't even know you want a promotion.

Next up we will talk about creating and running a faction, this is the true reason of the guide.

Basics

Ok so basics of starting a faction. Go to the NPC called the Faction Supervisor in Archosaur (coordinates: 585, 665). The requirements are that you are not currently in a faction and that you are level 20+. Then for 100,000 coins you can create a faction and name it (up to 9 characters).

With paying the 100,000 coins to start the faction you can have up to 50 members, including yourself. If you pay an additional 2,000,000 coins (2 mil) you can upgrade to a lvl/rank/tier 2 faction and you can hold 100 members. From there, you can pay an additional 10,000,000 (10 mil) and upgrade to a lvl/rank/tier 3 faction and hold 200 members. You cannot upgrade any higher.

You can upgrade the lvl/rank/tier of your faction by going to the faction supervisor.

As a leader you can: set a slogan (viewable in guild pannel), upgrade the faction, arrange a territory war, add people, kick people, set titles for people, promote people, and demote people.

There are positions within a faction, there is the Commisioner, this is the most basic position that everyone (except yourself, the leader) has when they join your faction.

Then there is the Executor, the executor can add people to the faction. You can have up too 12 executors regardless of faction tier.

Next is the Marshal. The marshal can add people, and promote/demote people between Commisioner and Executor. These are typically very trusted people. You can have up too 4 marshals regardless of faction tier.

Then there is the Director. The director is pretty much like the leader. This should be a highly trusted person who is a relatively high level, who is nice, who you know and trust well. Typically this is a person you might know in real life or someone you know extremely well for in-game standards. The director can set a slogan (viewable in guild pannel), add people, kick people, set titles for people, promote people, and demote people.

One important concept of running a faction is the guild pannel. The guild pannel is accessed in-game by pressing G on your keyboard. From there you can do mostly anything guild related and view the members of your guild/faction. Your guildmates can view the guild pannel too, by pressing G.

It may interest you too create some good, solid, fair rules about faction conduct, member behavior, and member activeness (how much they play). For more information you can see: http://www.wikihow.com/Form-a-Successful-Guild-in-World-of-Warcraft

All the Fancy Stuff

Advertising, teamspeak, ventrilo, websites, forums. It can be complicated. These are all additional things that make a faction great. A website is a popular aspect of creating a faction, so can faction forums. Ventrilo and teamspeak (sometimes called vent or ts) is a program that allows you to communicate with your guildmates verbally (this costs money). Finally there's advertising, both over world chat and the PWI forums.

To get started set up a website, you may want to take sometime to set up your website and properly customize it to fit the ideas and ideals of your faction. Forums allow guildmates to communicate with eachother better as well. Some popular ones are....

http://www.ning.com/
http://www.weebly.com/
http://www.forumotion.com/
http://doodlekit.com/home
http://sites.google.com
http://www.wix.com/

There are many other ones but these are a few popular ones. I personally like ning and forumotion and wix.

Teamspeak and ventrilo are programs that allow you to communicate via a microphone through your computer too your guild, verbally. This is useful for TWs and just basic communication. Teamspeak and ventrilo both cost money however it can be worth while.

http://www.ventrilo.com/
http://www.teamspeak.com/

I've else heard about getgsc.com which offers a service similar to ventrilo and teamspeak except for no cost, which is great if you are on a budget. I have not personally used this system but I hope you find that it works well for your guild.

Finally we come to the difficult part, getting people to join your guild. Its not as easy as you might think. You must come up with a steady yet not to demanding requirement(s) to join. You should invest in teleacoustics to send out messages that you are recruiting. Also if you can, use your faction name when asking for fb runs. For example if we had a faction named blah you could say "Blah doing your fb 19-39 fast easy fun, your tab your drops! PM ME". This is an effective way of letting people know about your guild.

Anyways, thats just about all you'll need to know to start a succesful faction. As you become more advanced, as a player and as a faction you may want to look at certain aspects more in depth as this guide is just the begining.

**You are welcome to use this guide and copy its materials in other locations however you must credit its contents to ToTaLe. Please note, this information is for everyone and it is just suggestions, use at your own risk. Thank you.**

If you see any material in this guide that is incorrect or if I am missing anything please don't hesitate to say so. Also, if you agree, disagree, or just generally wanna say something go ahead. I am open to constructive critisism but please no flaming. Thank you and I hope you found this guide useful.[COLOR]

    Great guide ^^

It's also 10mil to go from level 2 to level 3, not 6mil

Also, for the guild masters who don't have a lot of money, here's a free (!) form of teamspeak/ventrillo. I use it with my faction - holds up to 200 people and is PWI compatable...and you don't have to be windowed to use it ^^ - getgsc.com

Also, GamerDNA seems to be a popular forum site, as well.

I have decided to start a faction and I uploaded my icon and leveled it to 3. I know how to handle the social aspects of the guild as far as accomodating my members and higher-ups. However, I am somewhat new to the game. I am level 80 but I got there through using fc so I don't know much about bh, tt, challenge quests, etc... In order to run my faction and help my members I need to know more about the quests which they will ask me to help them with. I also need to know more about weapons they need, new expansions, armor they need, territory war etc... What would be a good way to learn about all this?

I've browsed the web, and stuff but cant seem to find a guide on how to do this. Certain factions have a white beginning to their faction name, and an orange ending, Such as:

    Server: Dreamweaver
    Faction: LdysKnts

Please explain how to do this for me ^_^b:bye
