ok so i was fighting an increased magic defense mob with my skills but they were hitting for nothing compared to standard mobs and also i put 5 points on my mag to increase mana a lil and now my skills hit harder O_o

so my question is this:

why do ppl say archers don't need mag if it clearly gives skills like lightening strike and such extra damage?

so far i have been putting 5 on dex then when i lvl again 4 dex 1 strength (lvl 23) 90+ dex but i was wondering if maybe taking mag to about 30 would make lightening hit like a truck lol

also mp recovery rate for archers sucks ****!!1 archer = mana burner

wtb mana charm lolz

Mag doenst give extra attack, our attack is based on our physical attack, so I dont know how you did get incrise in your attacks, also it has been told a lot, but you could as well get gear with mp reg. add, its better than adding points into mag which doesnt give at thing.

hmm still doesn't explain why skill attacks do less damage against an increased magic defense mob which still leads me to believe magic increases damage on certain skills

if a standard shot does as much or more damage then lightening strike on one of those mobs then mag must play a factor at some level/point

The reason your attack did less damage on an Increased magic defence mob is because Lightening strike is your physical damage + XXX Magic damage. Your magic level does not effect this skill, only the level of your skill and your physical damage.

Never put magic into an archer...

k thanks for clearing that up cus it actually makes sense now lol

i will eventually make an alt and give it some sort of magic build for fun to see the results at the mo i think i shall stay on the path of 9 dex and 1 strength every 2 lvls that seems to be ok for the light armours as of now

the 5 dex then 4 dex 1 str makes me crit like a **** lol i one shot a lvl 22 mob when i was also lvl 22 lol b:laugh

    first of all, don't go 9dex 1str, go 1str 4dex

2nd, it had more physical defense but since lightning strike does magic, it hit harder than your physicals

    Lightning Strike's Power
It comes from your physical damage, you can have 200 magic and it won't make a difference

    At lvl 10
A lightning bolt strikes the opponent, dealing Metal damage
equal to base physical damage plus 2214.9.

Archers have no skills that rely on magic damage and so the only effects magic has on an archer is that it increases your MP pool, magic defense, and MP regeneration rate.

Dexterity on the other hand increases ranged weapon damage, accuracy, evasion, chance to crit, and is a requirement for bows and light armor. Which sounds more useful?

I built my first arch with 4 mag 1 str every level. Sucko that is why i had to restart. Couldn't kill anything other than myself. 4 dex 1 str all the way now it has made all the difference.

99.99% of the advice given on these forums is rock solid. Especially for newbs like me.

You will still use the same amount of mana, regardless if you tick every 1000 pts or 3000pts. If you have higher mag, it won't tick as often, but it will tick for more, so there is no gain.

it was a joke, but it seems you havent done rebirth. your mana actually gets healed by mp aura there, just that with level 10 barrage it annoyingly ticks nearly every 5 seconds anyway. if you could do 2 barrages without ticking it coud help reduce few k in usage :P
