    I always found that it's better to just NPC the items..
    But there are ppl who believe it's worth it (especially at higher lvl's)

    Actually NPC'ing the items is a huge waste of money! :P You can make almost double the money by selling to another player's cat shop. Especially in bigger cities like Arch, City of the Lost, etc. - there are always cat shops that buy DQ items for higher than you can sell to an NPC for.
