I'm learning this game and I want to build up towards axes/hammers.. I read the guide on setting up a BM and it talked about 6str and 1 dex each level...

Does anyone one know from experience how important vitality and dexterity is for an axe/ham blade master? should I be taking the 3 left over hit points and using them as +1dex +2vit? or should I just go +3 vit?

I really like vitality because it regens health plus give me defense to magic! BUT!!!!!! i want to know if I am going to gimp my self if I don't take enough dexterity? Will it... or should the evasion and crit be important to me late game?

I almost feel that crit isn't going to be that big a deal unless i'm going all out on it... I leaning toward going strong with the Vitality and adding just enough dex to get equipment...is this ok as axes/hammers? thanks in advance.

well i am an axe/hammer BM, and up until now i have followed the 3 str, 1 vit, 1 dex build per level and i have come across no problems. My accuracy is 'okay' but i miss a lot against archers, but as you are looking for a PvE build, this should suit you fine. Most people suggest to cap vit at 50-55 ish, but with gears at level 60, i have 94 vit, and i think i will continue to add more, unless i eventually re stat and go for a dual build.
    I hope this helped ^^

Thank you! this does help me but i do have one more question... why would we want to cap dex at 50-55ish? do the hitpoints matter much more at that point? Why do they not cap at 60 so they can get the crit bonus? or do they let the equipment cap off the dex for the bonus...? sorry for the ton of questions...

he said cap vit, not dex....Or maybe he edited it. Either way, he meant a lot of BM's cap vit at around 55, Im doing the same thing as he is though and it seems to be fine.

Ah... well why cap either of them? I would think that having a lot of vit is a good thing...

Addressing some points, vit barely gives any extra phys/mag defense. I think it's 5 vit gives 1 point of phys/magic def? and when you have 10k phys def an extra couple points really doesn't matter. Also the hp regen doesn't help much either, the only benefit of vit is the extra 15 hp. If you add just enough dex to get equipment you will have a ton of hp but miss a lot. It's totally up to you and your playing style

Oh I didn't think of it like that... I guess the vit seems alot better at a lower level... i guess if armor starts adding thousands of defense then the extra vit defense is insignificant. That makes sense! Thank you!
