The Auto-Mapping of Quests

When you choose the green text in the Quest window, the auto-mapping automatically kicks in, dragging you to the destination as the bird flies. I think it is a great feature, but there is room for improvement.

When in an area where you have a number of quests, it is nice to be able to go through them and click the green text to see the locations on the map and decide which one is closest. The only problem is being automatically dragged in that direction.

Would it be possible to perhaps have a single click just mark the locations on your map, and then a double click actually fire up the auto-mapping? This would make searching for the most nearby monster, or quest item much less frustrating. Being pulled into mobs, or out of a safe area while trying to locate quest mobs or items isn't much fun.

If I'm just missing something, and there is a way to just mark the locations without actually being pulled there let me know! I tried alt-click, shift-click, ctrl-click and double-click but all initiate the auto-mapping. Thanks!

    Here is what I do.

Walk so you are against a building, and under it, than on the auto-path set to to max height. Click on the quest link (either mob name of who to get it from/turn it in), and the character will start the flying annimation, and get stuck in the building, and auto-cancel... Now you have your flag and yourself stuck in the building. Alternatively I move the th quest window to one side of the screen so it does not cover the auto-path and quickly cancel the auto-path....
Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions. b:pleased

Lol I was doing the same thing until a couple hours after I'd made this post when I found a new method. I meditate. Clicking the green text while meditating makes your character stand up, but not move. At the same time it marks the Auto Mapped location on the map. The only thing is it won't work on mounts =( And of course you have to hit meditate again before checking the next quest location.

So if mounted, I still have to block myself up against something before checking through the quests, and of course, out of towns there's really nothing to jam yourself against, so I have to dismount and meditate. Or sometimes I'll jump on my manta, since the air is often a little less crowded with mobs than the ground, and the mantas slow speeds gives me lots of time to cancel auto-map.

Still a single click to mark map and double click to kick in auto-mapping would be so much easier.

    Cheers!

never thought of that as being a problem, only problem I had with it was its clearly meant for flyers not people on the ground as its a straight path and smacks into everything, then again I dont use auto much as its new and was recently implemented im used to doing it the old way and going to search for stuff, I didnt even know it had issues like that or that it marked the map so thanks for the solutions and info and if I happen to start useing it ill keep it in mind especialy as the map marking thing might be useful.
I do agree that the one click to mark two clicks to go there would probly be better, but that is rather minor in all honesty, my idea is manual movement always overrides auto anyway so just click on quests while your moving somewhere then when done cancel the auto or just use it, also you could fly real high and click all you want then decide where to go after.
