EldrHaven Faction Charter

Things we are looking for in prospective members - Fun, Active, Kind, Mature, Ethical, Honest, Courteous, Respectful, Helpful

We're really not asking for much, just that everyone gets along, respects each other, and has fun!!!

Introduction

Hello and welcome to EldrHaven, a faction for fun loving players of maturity and integrity. We are essentially a PVE faction, doing our best to be helpful with information, bosses, FBs, TT runs, and other 'squad' events. This faction is intended to be a democracy, wherein each member has a say in whether new recruits become lasting members or not. Everyone who is recruited into EldrHaven is here on a 'trial' basis for a period of one week. Please feel free to interact with the faction and give us an idea of who you are and what you are about. Your future here depends on the opinions of the existing members, so feel free to impress us!!! Over the course of the next week, the members of the faction will vote in private on whether they would like to see you become a permanent part of our family. In this way, it is hoped that we can avoid the friction that develops from recruiting randomly and having to live with whatever fate throws our way. If you are accepted, congratulations, and welcome! We look forward to a fun and lasting relationship in which you will have a voice as well. If for any reason you are rejected, we're sorry, please don't take it as an insult. Being a good person, and fitting in with an existing group of people, are two entirely different things, and can easily be mutually exclusive. Yeah or nay, everyone will be informed of their vote by an officer.

Ranking System

A=active V=on vacation for whatever reason M=Missing in action, ie, hasn't been heard from in a while and no one knows why.

1=lvl 100+
2=lvl 90+
3=lvl 80+ etc etc etc

So the rank for an active lvl 65 player would be A-5.

For trial members, their rank is the date they were recruited, for example, 1228 would be December 28. The next section explains why this is important.

Voting System for Established Members

In an attempt to make this whole system as easy and painless as possible, we are going to use an 'auto-voting' system for 'Yes' votes. If you want to vote 'Yes' for someone, do nothing. The officers will assume that's a 'Yes' vote and count it as such. You only need to actually vote if you want to cast a 'No' or 'Strong No' vote (see below). It takes 25% of the faction voting 'No' to deny someone permanent membership. It is hoped that this system will work because you are more likely to vote if someone bothers you for one reason or another. Remember, this is an important responsibility! The harmony and well being of this faction depends on it, so please do your part. All you need to do is pm an officer and tell them if you want to place a 'No' vote. Names will not be divulged nor recorded, except in the case of a 'Strong No' vote . Please make sure you are actually talking to someone when you vote. Don't just send a pm and hope they get it.

Also, if you're on the fence about someone, consider giving them the benefit of the doubt. If we are to grow to any size, you can't expect everyone we recruit to be your 'new best friend'. Instead, we are trying to weed out the "OMG, I can't stand that person."

A quick check of the guild roster, sorted by rank, will let you see who is on their trial period and needs a vote, and when their trial period started. You can refresh the guild roster by clicking on the little symbol to the right of the word 'Status' if it's gold. If it's grayed out, nothing will happen. And remember, you don't have to wait for the one week trial period to end before voting. You can vote anytime up until the trial period is over.

The STRONG Vote

If you feel very strongly that someone should not be allowed permanent membership, cast a 'Strong No' vote. This could be based on past history, an incident, or just a personality that grates on you. However, be aware that this is a serious action. You should be thinking along the lines of "OMG, if that person stays, I can't stand it, it's him or me. Two or more Strong No votes means an automatic no, so please think carefully before using this option.

Officer Veto

Any of the six faction officers have the power of veto for any new recruit. This is an automatic no vote. A good example would be a member recruiting someone who the officer had a past history with, and was SURE that person wouldn't fit in. This is encouraged to be used in only the most extreme cases. In other words, we'd rather keep the officer than the recruit, and if the recruit stayed, the officer would feel the urge to leave.

Reconsideration

As hard as we try, some people are bound to make it past the initial vote who end up just not fitting in. For this reason, there is the Reconsideration. If an established member(s) has a serious problem with another established member, they can contact an officer for a Reconsideration. Please have a screen shot of a conversation or witnesses to back up your request. Also be aware that in such cases, the officers will be looking at both parties involved to make sure 1) that there is a problem 2) who is the problem. The officers will then decide on how to best handle the situation, whether by re-vote or some other measure.

Rules

Only a couple, but necessary to the well being of the guild.

1- Since we are attempting to recruit mature players, this shouldn't be necessary, but......No Begging or Borrowing. It makes people uncomfortable. They worked hard for what they have. If you ask for some advice instead, they would probably be more than happy to teach you how to do the same. "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach him to fish, feed him for life."

Now, the not-so-subtle distinctions. "Hey Sly, I just found that (whatever) you were looking for at a great price."

OK ="Cool, can you grab it for me? I'll meet you there asap and pay you for it."

Not OK ="Cool, can you grab it for me? I can probably pay you back next week sometime."

OK = "Anybody got some dull claws they can sell me?" Now, if the member feels like just giving them to you, that's their choice, and it wasn't coerced.

Not OK = "Can anybody give me some dull claws so i can finish this quest?"

Right down the middle = "Anybody got any dull claws? I need em to finish the banker quest." Just be careful where you go with this.

This is a baseball item, three strikes and you're out. First strike will get you a warning. Second strike will get you a severe warning.

2- Everyone has bad days, temper loss, whatever. Some people just like to move around. However, part of the purpose of this guild is to provide a friendly and stable home for it's members. So, baseball time again, if you leave the guild, strike one. Three strikes and you're out, permanently. You are given a bit of leeway for 'incidents', but we don't encourage 'guild hopping'.

That's all. Again, Welcome to EldrHaven, we hope you have fun and enjoy yourself, and become a valued member of our community.

If you have any info or ideas plz post here and contact us ingame about them.

    I'm not sure how these forums keep track of people, but just in case - When I signed up for these forums, I was still playing my character Ayriel. My first character in this game was Shanthe. I'm not sure who it will say posted this, but this is Elriss. Now that that's out of the way...

    Sly, I forgot to leave in the part explaining about the officers. Please include this somewhere after the introduction -

    The Officers

    Because this guild is intended to be a democracy, it has no leader, ruler, king, queen, president, etc. The top 6 officers, Leader, Director, and four Marshals, are the officers of the faction. They are the ruling council, and all have an equal voice in any 'officer decisions' that need to be made. Anything that cannot be handled easily by the membership at large will fall to the officers. They are also the primary vehicle for handling votes and keeping the membersip informed of any faction business.
