when someone says they r in a Role Playing guild.. what does that exactly mean.. it might be a silly question but i dont understand since you are your character and you are yrself.. what is there to role play..?b:sad

    role play in am MMO usually means you make an effort to act and speak within the constraints of the game lore. For instance instead of saying LFG for dungeon, you'd be like "Hail adventurers, I seek assistance in my venture into the depths of an evil lair. Come with me, and together we will reap great treasures!"

    Look at a stereotypical D&D thing(like in the futurama film, Benders Game), it's basically that.
    Currently flying internet spaceships around dodixie, moving to amarr soon.

    I used to read some subscription game RP forums for fun. Those guys have some serious creativity, maybe a little odd too but entertaining.

    I met somebody in pwi that joined the faction.. left the previous one because it was a Roleplaying faction.

    Everybody took part of non-stop roleplay and called the leader princess something of something something. I lol'd so hard

    I wouldn't have slapped. I would have killed, and then camped the spawn point for a while so I could kill him again, and again, and again. Because, like the Necromancer, I too, like dead things. Especially when said dead things were formerly alive idiots.

    Curious thing about roleplayers,they are much more interesting to have a chat with than most people on the server,for a start you don't get noob/pro/leet/f off in the same sentence.

    I tried to roleplay on Sanctuary as a Drow cleric who refused to heal humans because she didn't like them. That didn't last very long. b:chuckle

    To try and answer the original poster's question, while it is true that stereotypical role playing frequently involves speaking funny (often in Old English) that is not actually an important part of role playing at all (unless there is some reason to believe that the NPC's in the video game talk like that). Role playing, at its heart, is little more than acting like you are your character and the world you are playing in is real. In other words you would act like Anaouijia is you real name and you are really that character. You do not talk about the real world at all (because PW is the real world from Anaouijia's perspective) and you do not talk about game mechanics (because the world is real, not just a game). It is often easier to do this when playing in the first person since games tend to be much more immersive from that perspective (it is hard to experience the world from Anaouijia's perspective when you can see the back of her head). From the first person you see everything out of Anaouijia's eyes and treat it all like it is real (especially in chat). That is role playing. Talking funny is purely optional.
