Safe Stone & Pet Cage not working, confused

I got the regular cage and the reg safe stone from the boutique. How do I use them with the pet skill trainer and banker?? I tried clicking on them but it says "this item cannot be used"

What is the procedure for getting both of them to increase my inventory for my pet and safe?

    they have quests for increasing bank/cage space. choose those. I believe they have an option for using cage/safe stone.

    I got the super safe stone and clicked on the quest. I finally got 80 slots of safe space which is great! I will try getting the super cage next time instead of the regular pet cage. I think that will work.
